We'll have about 2 dozen third gen RX-7s out there Nov 30. I believe our enrollment is full but we might let you eat some bbq at the end of the day! The guys at MSR are certainly a good group to learn from and our last event in May was great. Bob Bondurant happened to be in town that weekend and showed us how to get a GTS Viper around the track quickly.

I wanted to come watch the Birkins as we have had a few autox with us, but instead spent time getting my car ready. Doesn't that ever end?

All the popular driving education organizations like thedriversedge.net, nasatx.com, and the PCA all run at MSR and require experienced instructors to be with you until you get approved. For my check ride I had a SCCA Speed TV GT competitor as my instructor. Most of the instructors are very good for amatuers and with money they could all be pros. These organizations run entire weekend events for the cost of the no instructor Panoz one day. I highly recomend them and MSR.

Glad you had a great time Sean. You need a reliable car like a Ferrari.

Just wanted to let you guys know that I made it out to the track and had an absolute blast. There was one other Lotus Esprit, about 5 Birkin's, a Z06 vette, Boxster, 911, and that's about it in our group. One 355 Challenge car was running later in the day, and that ran great and sounded sweet. So, it was a pretty open track.

My Esprit was performing awesome, and especially since I had someone instructing who really knows what they are doing. My first few laps I was being passed by everyone. By the end of my next session, I was passing the Vette and the Porsches no problem. Unfortunately, in my third session, my clutch decided to go and I had to be trailered home. But, I had an great time. If you guys haven't taken your Ferrari to the track - do it, and bring someone experienced with you to help you learn the capabilities of your car. I never realized the potential of mine until this last weekend. It makes my day at TMS seem like I was driving like a little old lady.

I got this invite on our Lotus Club email list. It is sponsered by Birkin America. If I can get my test pipes made tomorrow, I plan on being out there in the Esprit...

PS - after previewing, it looks like the guy's name has been censored, so those little dots are actually a short form of Richard, starting with a D and ending with ICK.
