Hey Chris give me a yell if you want to do lunch sometime. I am @ Midway & International. Yes I drive past FOD every day on the way home. I drive past Lineback on the way to the office.

Autostrada in Austin has a red 355 F1 that looked nice while I was gawking at it. No idea of mileage or price but that should be easy enough to figure out by calling 512.458.6400. Ask for Andrew Sorrell and, if you feel like doing me a favor, tell him you were referred by the guy that bought their Mondial.

Stopped by today after visiting a client. They now have a yellow 355tb F1 and a red 355 Spider. They both looked dirty but not in bad condition. Couldn't find anybody to talk to and I was in a hurry so I didn't get any other info besides what I saw with my own eyes.

if you ran the car with zero oil pressure - I would not touch it. Assuming the gauge was functioning correctly

John, FWIW, Norwoods will do an inspection for you and I don't think anyone could question their credibility.

I would like that thank everyone for their replies to this thread.

I looked at the car yesterday and it looks pretty much as you would expect for a car that is intrinsically beautiful, but has been treated with no particular care. No records or indication of any service ever being done. Odo shows 9833, which means that 800 have been put on since its Dupont posting last June. Either by Lineback staff or, despite denials, day rental.

Major worries are some evidence of overheating - cracked and chipped cam cover and airbox paint, faded rubber and engine compartment appearance, and mild exhaust rattling (cats?). Also the fact that the oil pressure gauge started reading 0 - cutting short my test drive. I must say it did run well the rest of the time, although jumping into a f355 directly from my econo-rentalcar was a big transition.

In conclusion... The pretty Lineback car should be valued closer to that of an eBay offering, rather than at their premium Ferrari dealer price.

FYI, while sales at the nearby Ferrari of Dallas seemed quite good, I was definitely put off by their service manager. They do not do any prepurchase inspections of (nonFOD) cars and my bullshit detector went off several times during our discussion of items/costs for a 30K service.

I am still actively seeking a 6-speed 97+/well-loved/low mileage silver/titanium/(possibly black) F355 GTS (possibly Berlinetta). Please let me khow if you hear of such a car.

Go in and talk to George Mogollion. He will shoot you as straight as anybody at Lineback.

Tell him Jonathan Peck from Advantage send you to him.

I don't think all of Lineback's cars are rentals, but I'd certainly ask. His rental 'fleet' usually resides at 75 and Park, his dealership is at the Tollway and Midway.

I would not want to purchase a F car that had been a part time rental while it waited to be sold.

There was an article about Lineback Enterprises in last Sunday's Dallas Morning News. I believe they were rated as one of the top 200 fastest growing companies in Dallas last year.

I'll dig up the article and post anything that may be helpful.

By the way, my office is right down the street from them - I have seen the silver 355 you are interested in - looks nice! They keep a good supply of cars on hand. Their new location now sports a showroom and service facilities.

I sent Autolink an email telling them I was a member of the F.P.S. and that I was filing a complaint that they left their Red 355 Spyder out doors all summer. They responded back something about we appreciate your concerns. I love to entertain myself like that.

I have always been curious about Autolink also. They had a red 355 that sat there all last summer. And a boat...

I was out there back in October and again in December. It was sitting out on the lot both times, looked like it had been for a while too. It was in decent condition. They had a couple 348 spiders back in Dec. also. Nice enough guys, but a little too car salesmen-ish for my taste.

Autolink has a 98 red/ black 355 F1 that was around $94K. My neighbor used to own it and I know it is a great car. You might want to check it out.

I'm going to be over that way today or tomorrow, I'll try to go take a look at it. They've got a lot of nice cars on their lot, but I've never dealt with them.

Also, it seems they were renting Ferrari's for a while too. I might be wrong but better check it out.

I bought a landcruiser there a couple years ago and they seemed ok to deal with. I think they get lots of lease return vehicles. The price I got was just a little above wholesale at the time and I got the impression they were there to try to move the cars instead of put a high price on and hope someone bites.

I am planning to come down next week to look at the 97 355 GTS that has been at Lineback Enterprises for several months. Do you know anything about the history or condition of this car? Are the people at Lineback straight? THANKS
