Wow. I assume the 333 was on slicks... and sticky ones at that. That would have to have been a wild ride from the banking to track-out of turn 2!

Brian, a 333 has ungodly brakes---carbon, I believe. MUCH, MUCH better than any street car brakes!

It is a true LeMans race car, with a V12. His braking point, based on my observation is about 100' before the turn in point to turn 2---on the flat part after you come off the banking. He hits 170 on the banking, lifts slightly, turns downhill off the banking, gasses it again, then brakes right before the yellow box painted on track as the turn 2 turn-in point. Unbelieveable.

Thanks for the input.

Dave, the people who approached us are based out of TMS, thus the venue.

Rob, I know your opinions, and tend to agree, but wanted to give this a fair shake.

Maybe next year.

> Don't brake until you see God.

Yeah, but at 170, I was wondering where that is?

Given his brakes aren't that much better than ours, his braking zone has to be much different... I'd think.

I was on Kumho R-compound V700 tires in the M3. :-) Standard street Pirelli PZero Assimetrico's on the 550, though.

Archer did a 1:49? Holy smokes, that is really hauling. In the last weekday event we did, we had Ron Somebody-or other's 333SP from Houston there, driven by pro driver Mike Davies. He was doing in the 1:35 range, and hitting 170 MPH as he entered turn 1.

Those are really good times Dave, even if you were on DOT race tires. The only Ferrari racing in our division right now is Harrison Williams in a 355 C. His best time on the 2.9 is around 1:54. Fast, but still out classed by pro racer Bobby Archer in the Viper at 1:49. The 2.9 scares me enough in a RX7, I'm not sure if I want to go much faster than this. ;)

Here's a great practical joke you can play on someone at work that you don't like. Take the "M" and "N" keys off of their keyboard, and reverse them. It only works if they're a hunt and peck typist, but it's funny as hell!

LOL! Yeah, I have proven here for over a year that I am an abysmal typist & proofreader!!

Thanks for the video. Best I have done at TWS in the M3 is 2:01:07. Best in the 550 is 1:57:xx.

Dave, the "D" key is one over from the "S" key.

Here's my new PR on the 2.9 from that race...

Rob, some additional points: the next date we have set up is March 20. Usually, there are several instructors, such as myself, present at these, for those who are newer to driving on the track. There are NO run groups--everyone comes & goes on the track at will--but novices run with an instructor for at least a few laps, or as long as they like, for safety purposes & to learn the line. There is no mandated tech inspection. The only safety equipment required is a helmet. Race cars are welcome. If anyone woule like more info, email me at "[email protected]".

Also, Rob, Dave Mundy says "hi", and he also said you sis really well on the last SCCA race weekend. Congratulations!!

Dave has a good idea and Tillman, you know my opinionated view on your question.

I think we should all go down to Texas for the FOH and other available track days, but I think FCA DFW should specialize in eventually providing track days local to DFW, then all the Houston folks can come up here. Right now we couldn't find 10 people, much less 90.

I have a possibly better alternative: Forget TMS.

We can rent TWS on a weekday for a whole lot less. About every month, a bunch of us do--usually on a Thursday.

Here's the good news: even though the price per person is about the same, you only need about 25 cars or so to break even. You get an ambulance with that fee, but no corner workers, due to the low number of cars. You come & go on the track as you please. And, in the past, we have run the track one way in the morning & the other way after lunch.

It's a 2/9 mile course that is MUCH safer that TMS, especially if you are less than an expert, professional driver, and it is a superb road course.

Food for thought...

I'd be very interested, but I don't think you get 90 Ferraris. Better chance for 60, but then I guess the price would need to be $325 or so.

To make it appealing at that money, I'd say we should provide some good instructors. I'd think instructors would jump at the chance to instruct riding around in a bunch of Ferraris. And with the lower count, fitting in an extra non-Ferrari instructor run as their "payment", I'd think it could be done. You might want to contact Rick of Drivers' Edge if you want to pursue it.

If I don't have a conflict on the chosen date, I'd definitely be in on a TMS Ferrari-only day, even at $325, especially if there are instructors available.

Greetings,

I (or we) have been approached about a Ferrari-only track day at the TMS facility sometime in early fall. The event would be 1 day, 8 am to 5 pm, and include lunch, medical personnel, etc.

The catch is that we would need 90 cars and/or drivers at $225 each to make this happen.

Does anyone think this is a possibility? Are there even 90 cars in the area?

I've not participated in a track event yet, so I'm not sure what to ask. I just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time :-). What questions or concerns would you all need resolved?

Any feedback is welcome.
