There is already a huge Driver's Edge event going on March 1st in TWS. Lots of different cars out there, including Ferraris. The Pantera club will have over 30 cars out there, and in the past has had a big turnout. You guys should come out. Come on, not scared of the Pantera folk are ya? |

I recommend everyone do an Evolution autocross school. You do get a years worth of autocross time. Here's the drawbacks I see... - I would rather AX in another car besides the Ferrari, although I have AX'd the Ferrari once. The rocks and possibly the cones beat your car up pretty good. - You'll go through a set of tires in that day. - It's better to have autocrossed at least a few times before jumping right into the school. - I doubt we could find 25 cars unless opening it up to all autocrossers in the area. - In the Ferraris I would rather spend $250-300 for a full weekend on MSR with NASA, PCA, or thedriversedge.net. I have a dream that some day FoD and FCA DFW will come together and have large Ferrari turnouts at MSR and Boundless Motorplex. |

While Tillman has you pondering a Ferrari-only track day in another thread, let me ask a similar question... How many would be interested in a Ferrari-only AutoX School taught by some SCCA Solo2 National Champions (the Evolution School). Although Ferrari's aren't always the best autox vehicles, you can learn tremendous car control skills and really learn your cars limits *safely* in these schools. (And as a Ferrari-only event, we don't have to worry about being shown up by that pesky slammed Civic that weighs barely more than one ton.) You get 25-35 runs at Evolution schools... that's like a year's worth of autocrossing in one day. My thought here is that we rent the parking lot at TMS, rather than the gravely Mineralring where autox schools are often held. We attract some of the better of the great instructors Evolution has (an event full of Ferraris would do that). And we have them loosen the course up a bit to fit our cars better. Since few Ferraris autox, we run two Phase 1's on Saturday and then a Phase 1 and a Phase 2 on Sunday. Perhaps April 26 & 27, warming up, but hopefully before the rain season starts. The cost is typically like $150-175/day at Mineralring. At TMS, with 2 courses, I think that cost may balloon to $250-280/day. Alternatively, we could keep the cost down by running just one school each day at Pennington, but you couldn't open the course up at all there. Any interest? For more info on Evolution, see http://autocross.com/evolution/ -- and if you notice a Ferrari popup... yes, that's mine. Brian
