I drove home from the lake this morning and as I merged on to the highway, I pulled in behind a Saab 9-5 Aero. I was in a hurry, and it turned out the Saab was too. I stayed behind it the whole way home, averaging about 80mph. When we got to 635, traffic got a little heavier and we began jockeying back and forth as we tried to maintain our speed. The Saab stayed in front, but we remained together, still running about 80. At one point we came up behind a truck with cars on both sides. The Saab went right, I went left. I got around the truck first and pulled back in front of it. I then passed the car to my right. All of a sudden in the far right lane, here came the Saab, hauling ass. I glanced over and got my first look at the driver. A little old lady! She must've been 75 at least, had the seat nearly all the way up, and could barely see over the steering wheel! I laughed out loud and gave her a thumbs up. She smiled and waved. I ducked back in behind her and we continued our run until she exited at Skillman. I waved again as I passed her the last time, I won't forget it anytime soon. |
