Jim,

I used to live in Stonebridge Ranch... but that was in its early days. I would say that you should try the commute... it may not be bad at all. You'll hop Virginia or Stonebridge Parkway out to Custer and pop down to 121... I can't imagine that being anything but pleasant. Then you just have to make it over to the tollway, and that part of the drive shouldn't be bad. That just leaves 121 and crossing Preston.

Possibly better would be the back road (what was that... 720) from custer to Preston, then Preston down to 121 such that you're turning right, avoiding that light.

Hmmm... hopefully a current resident will chime in, but I suspect there is actually a pretty efficient way to get to work.

HTH.

Hey Jim, just checked out your profile. Wouldn't it be nice to drive the TR you want forty minutes each way? just a thought.

Yeah, ACS is definitely thriving. After coming from the telecom industry it's a nice change! But then again, the article in June's D Magazine http://www.dmagazine.com//article.asp?articleid=531 isn't exactly "commending". 7-Eleven is about $8M a year for ACS and we just signed a big deal with Miller that is in the $20M range.

Ah ACS. 7-Eleven has their mainframe stuff outsourced to you and the client/server stuff to EDS. I was just touting ACS to my boss as we are doing some ASP stuff for our clients on a small scale. Seems ACS keeps landing multimillion $ deals month after month per the dallas biz journal.

My drive is around 30 miles, about average for this area I guess. I actually work at ACS.

wow you do have a drive. I used to work for 7-Eleven at haskell and drove in from Legacy and 75. Took forever and it was 22 miles I think. So do you work for Dain Roucher or Fidelity in Citiplace?

Jim, I live in Flower Mound (35 & 407), it takes me 45 minutes to get to work going 35 to Bush to Tollway and cut-over to 75 & Haskel where I work. Small price to pay for how far your $$$ goes up North. I live on over an acre with tons of trees, 3,600 square foot house (4/3.5/3) with a pool - $350k range. I'm totally amazed at how overpriced homes in Dallas are and no yards! It's well worth the extra drive.

I agree. I lived in Boston and that would buy you a shanty 30 miles out of town. Same in San Francisco. I dont' know how you guys afford to live as salaries are not 10 times higher than here.

Just played golf out there last week and noticed those houses. Wife has a problem with a "Garland" address, but I agree it is closer for sure. She likes the Stonebridge Ranch community pool/beach etc and of course the houses and it seems to be lots of young couples with young kids. Realtor told me avg age out there was about 32 or 33. man that is a lot of young people earning some major bank!

I looked up there when I was shopping for my last house. I decided that it was too far out for me, even though you can get a ton of house for the same money. Have you looked East, out by Firewheel golf course? They're building a ton of houses out there, and the commute on 190 would be easy.

Wife and I were looking at houses just north of Virginia Parkway yesterday in the $270K range. Man you can get a lot of house up there compared to down here in Richardson! However that is damn near Oklahoma. I work off Tollway and Keller Springs. Any idea on the commute? I know 75 is a bear during rush hour. I don't want to spend hours in the car in gridlock.
