Rob,

Wow! Now that is planning in advance. No, I was actually talking about this year. Check out my link: http://moorespeed.com/news/schedule/index.html

Probably will go in 2004 as well as we try to do this event every year. So not out of the question. Price would be reflective of current diesel price at that time of course.

David, this is for 2004. Is that what you're talking about too?

I will offer an endorsement of David's comments. I have no commercial affiliation with him or his company. But I have seen his equipment & preparation at a recent track event, including his team's care for a customer's new 355 Challenge (no, not Rob Lay's) at her first event with her new car on track. Very nice equipment, very nice set-up, and very clean & well turned-out car.

David, I might be interested in your estimates of cost for one of your remaining 2 slots...

Rob:

We (Moorespeed) are already taking our new 53' transporter with 3 cars confirmed to the Monterey Historics Race that same week/weekend.

To date, we have 2 spots left in that transporter going to the track. Deposit required to hold spot.

However, we have another transporter (which we're putting up for sale soon) that holds (6) cars. Both have 26'x 48 and 26'x53' awnings (with side skirts/walls for night time), Kiwi Tile flooring, Tables/chairs for hospitality, etc.

Will be back in touch with rates based upon full loads. Our rates are extremely competitive with anyone in the business and our employees handle these type cars all day long everyday and if you have a problem with your car while there, we can probably fix it as we will have ALL of our normal equipment (a true mobile shop)in support of our racing customers.

I am sure that you could fill up @ least one trailer if not two. As in everything else it all depends on the cost..

Rob,

My transport company should be up and running within the next month or so. I would be happy to help move your cars for you and other members as well.

F-Chat discount will definitely apply!

Rob, you're going to eat up Laguna Seca... just remember, as you're blindly approaching the cork screw, have faith, aim for the second oak tree and put it to the floor.... or is it the third oak tree??? :-)

Rob, I'll possibly be very interested. Unfortunately, the dates of the event are a bit too late in August... around the start of school... otherwise I'd ABSOLUTELY be interested.

I've been looking for a good excuse to go to Monterey anyway... and I am dying to take my Ferrari to Laguna Seca (among a few great tracks around the country). The only issue: will school start the week of Aug 13-19 or the next week? If the next week, then I am there!! If that week, I suspect it won't be possible.

(Why do these planners HATE us Ferraristi with kids? Grrrrr...)

So, how's that for a big fat 'MAYBE!' ? :-)

Rob,

I would also suggest calling VIP Transport, Inc. 888 428-5847. They were quite reasonable moving my Ferrari from Florida to Dallas. I believe they are out of Oklahoma.

I checked last year and got quotes in the range of $2300 round trip. I believe this was from Reliable.

Rob,

With advance notice, you can get Horseless Carriage to carry a load for you, stay with the cars and bring them back. They carry all the new Ferrari's and are good. You might check with Tony at FoD for their phone number.

Just an idea after I realized Jennie's Tundra only gets 7 miles a gallon when pulling the Challenge car.

Who would possibly be interested in hiring an experienced exotic car hauler for 6-7 of our cars up to Laguna Seca and FCA meet at Monterey. Without knowing anything else about it, I would guess we could have pick up points in Houston, Austin, and Dallas. I'm dreading a 2-3 day drive up at 7 MPG and then 2-3 day drive back. We could hire a trailer, cars would be there and unloaded, probably pick up at Laguna Seca. That way I could maybe take the 328 and Challenge. The best of all you could fly in the day of without the hassle, money, and time of the long drive.

My guess is it would cost $1-2k per car round trip.
