Didn't spot any celebs, but apparently they weren't doing the whole race, but picking up in or right after Dallas.
I just couldn't believe these guys throwing their luggage on top of the F50. I got a video of the 2000 Gumball and they have some guy taking a hammer to his F355 fender. Argh... |

OK, from a friend who works for a magazine covering part of the Dallas happenings -- the Gumball is coming through tomorrow, Saturday evening, and they are staying at the Crescent. There is a party, but nobody knows the details.
The rally will be departing the Crescent at 9:30 AM Sunday.
I plan on going by Saturday, and will plan on being there again Sunday morning to catch some of the action. |

Rumor has it, the Gumball will be arriving at the Crescent Court Hotel sometime Saturday, with an early Sunday departure for New Mexico. If I find out any more details, I will be sure to pass it on. Other rumors include Nicolas Cage, Heather Graham, Johnny Knoxville, Jamiraquai, Jason Priestly, Matt Dillon and other celebs will be participating with Spike Jonze filming the event. |

During lunch I saw the post on the Gumball race so did some reasearch and submitted a post on the gumball site and this is the responce I received. Jerry asked me to forward to you and if anyone was interested they could e-mail this guy who is driving in the Gumball race.

According to www.gumball3000.com, "The 'Gumball 3000' rally is not a race, and if you break the speed limits you are likely to end up in jail!!!"
On the map, it shows it starts in NYC, goes through Philly, DC, Nashville, Memphis, Dallas, Sante Fe, Vegas, and ends in LA. It also says there will be glamorous parties each evening. So, I would assume they would make one of those nights in Dallas since it is about halfway.
I think the event has turned less into a race, and more into an excuse to party and show off your expensive car. Also, it is a rally, so they have designated stopping points along the way so you get the directions to the next party spot. |

I thought the objective of this thing was to secretly see who could get across the country the fastest... like a race? Why would they stop in Dallas?
But then again, maybe I know more about the movie than the actual event!!!??? |

Maybe I should post this in the main forum to see if anyone is participating, and then they can give us the scoop. Otherwise, everyone just needs to keep their eyes peeled.
By the way, where would you figure in Dallas they would stay? This is supposed to be a high dollar event, so you would think one of the nicer hotels in the area. But, where would you park the 100 cars and support crews? Maybe some place like the Four Seasons in Las Colinas? |

Between Thursday April 25th - Tuesday April 30th 2002 the Gumball 3000 rally will go through DALLAS!!! Show your support for Ferrarichat.com, I'm will be in Houston, but if anyone has info of where meeting area is, let me know. I'll see if I can get up there.

Anyone know any details of the Gumball coming to Dallas? It looks like it should be passing through the 26th or 27th of this month. Would be great to meet up with this group, and especially check out the vehicles. And, I figure at least one person from this board has got to be running the rally. |
