This is going to be awesome to watch! My girlfriend lives just a few miles from the track. I am a Ferrari nut but I am too young to own an F-car. Or you could say not wealthy enough yet! My Corvette will have to do till I get out of college and make some money. |

We put a new clutch slave cylinder in the car and either the new cylinder required a different length bolt or we put the wrong one back in. This caused the bolt to lock up the flywheel. |

This sucks for the Ferrari side of me, but good news on the Spec. Rx7 is that my engine has been fixed and I'll be racing at Hallett trying to move up a few spots in the 2003 standings. Hopefully I can make the December FoH track event. |

I've heard FoH always does the 1.8 track, but don't know about this time. I'm hoping to get my SRX7 engine fixed to do Hallett, but I'll do TWS if not. |

Oh man, what should I do? This looks like such an awesome weekend. All the Ferraris and racing and cool people. Urgh, there's a SRX7 race up at Hallett and it's the last one of the 2003 season (October to October). I'm in 6th place right now of 37 racers and can probably move up to 4th if I go to Hallett. I'm also the class representative of the SRX7 group. However, it's not likely I will loose any positions if I don't go. Plus, my car doesn't even have an engine in it and that weekend is getting close. The 355 C is all ready and nothing needs to be done except get a passenger seat in there. Oh this is soo tough. I love both, but which one would be better overall. |

Rob, Without pre-announcing anything (as a couple of track agreements aren't signed) I think you will see a 2004 Challenge season which looks very much like the 2003 series. The Historic schedule will be VERY similar. We can discuss the archives privately. I think you understand some of the obstacles, but I'm certainly not against the idea of making some of the information public. |

David, Welcome to FerrariChat.com. I think the rumors are there won't be a Challenge series next year or maybe just a couple events. Also, I'm still interested in all the Challenge series archives if you ever want to let me take the project on. I'll put the money, time, and even create a website to make it work. Thanks for the info David, rob |

Man! You could do this one, then the Running of The Bulls, then head on down to New Orleans! Hold my calls, and find my credit cards! Usually, FoH has a method to allow a few spectators in, but pre-registration is required to be on "The List" at the infield tunnel entrance. I guess we'll know more later. |

"The word on the "racing" street is that Ferrari Challenge will not be around next year." Maybe that is why Ferrari brought out the Stradale, to sell the challenge cars that won't be pruchased due to the collapse of the series...... |

That's right Dave, track events don't satisfy the SCCA regional license requirements, although if you have a bunch of them you might be able to get waived from one of your two SCCA schools. That's even iffy and dependent on how good of mood your instructor is in. SCCA types are pretty moody sometimes. An SCCA school costs the same as a track event anyway, so might as well just do the schools. However, next one in Texas isn't until December. I would go out of region to do your schools, although there may not be any. If you're really looking just to get some track time, then the track days will be great and also fun. Just don't expect it to help you license except you'll be more use to the car when the school does come along. |

Ron, it is a Porsche Club high performance driver education track event at Motorsport Ranch outside Ft. Worth (near Granbury). In all truth, I do not believe that it satisfies the requirements for a racing license, WITH THE EXCEPTION of BMW or Porsche Club Racing licenses. Dale, that may well b etrue...but my statement regarding last December's FoH customer track event stands. And FNA was not involved in that. |

Well Dave, more unofficial word is that FOH has to coordinate all this with, drum roll, FNA. In other words, FNA calls the shots on the Challenge races and what not. Based on my brief meeting with the FNA folks in Montreal during the GP, they are not, well, let's say very consumer focused. When you sell everything you get, I guess this tends to make one a little cocky. As just one example, I became friends with Bob Rapp, who is the owner of the yellow Enzo that C&D tested, and even he didn't have any stoke with FNA. Oh, and Bob's previous car was a 512S that won the 1970 Le Mans. So if he ain't got any stoke, then you and I certainly don't. So, aim your arrows at FNA. They are the ones calling the shots here, not FOH. Dale |

Dave M said: " And this brings to mind a real gripe I have wit them: their total, absolute, 100% lack of ANY communication with ANYONE about the events they put on, until a few days before the event actually takes place." I hear stuff like this has been building for quite some time and will be causing an even bigger problem, the demise of Ferrari Challenge in the US. The word on the "racing" street is that Ferrari Challenge will not be around next year. However, there is going to be some F-cars racing with or without. Good news on the Vintage acceptance of the Challenge cars. After lots of groundwork, we will be supporting a 355C at Road Atlanta and then Daytona. Several other race companies have talked with me and are planning on bringing their customers to the finale at the end of October. So it looks like there will be a pretty decent showing of 355 and 360 Challenge cars at Daytona for the USAGT HSR race. There are also a few 333SP's in the vintage WSC class and Spice Ferrari Camel Light cars in the P class that may be coming to play soon too. I hope so. Anyone seriously interested, please contact me. It could very easily blossum into a premier Ferrari dominated race series for next year with a good showing at Daytona. The more cars we have there, the bigger voice we have in how the series progresses. |

You know, Dale, that is great news...but it comes WAY too late for me. I have already committed to attend a PCA Instructor Clinic, and to instruct at a track event, that weekend at Motorsport Ranch, in the absence of ANY information from FoH. And this brings to mind a real gripe I have wit them: their total, absolute, 100% lack of ANY communication with ANYONE about the events they put on, until a few days before the event actually takes place. They did this last December in regard to a track event they had at TWS. They literally sent out the registration forms the week before...and, at the last minute, changed it from a 2 day to a 1 day event. It seems that nothing has changed. Here we are, a month out, and STILL nothing from them to any FCA chapter head, etc., or to anyone on their customer mailing list, announcing either the races or the track event. Pathetic way to run a customer-oriented business, IMO. |

It would be great to attend this race; I've never seen a challenge event. As far as I know the events have never been open to the general public. Always kept private to customers of FoH & FoD, non-Ferrari owners like myself don't have the pull that the owners have to attend this event. |
