Nika, if they work as bumper repellent I need a BUNCH of 'em, enough for front and rear, (of the car), okay?

I'm also serious about the cart race offer.
Let's talk, bring Danika Patrick!

Jeremey 512TR and I spanked 'em last year.
Looking forward to 2004! Go Goodyear!

Jeremey, post that trophy photo here, bro............

Tillman - did you not see the sticker on the front of the Yellow Challenge car? It saved the bumper!

At dinner that night both drivers were laughing it off - a great group of guys. For 18 minutes the Yellow was faster in the corners but lagged in the straight away......a little brake test landed the red car off......both felt at fault.

What's with the BUGS???? GEEEEEEEEEEEEZ I have never in my life seen so many bugs! They may be called "Love bugs" but I hated the bloody things as it took forever to get them off the windshields!

Great group of people there

"How was the actual racing?"

3 groups of 2 cars each after 3 laps. Kenton won followed by ?? just inches back. These two had a good duel for the entire 30 minutes, rarely being farther than 30 yards back.

Turn 1 at the start had the opportunity to take out all but the top two. But wisely the red 360 backed out while all three dove into turn 1 at 155 MPH.

Close good racing?

each of the three pair had a good race.

Wrecks?

One 360 took an 'agricultural' excursion in the last practice session. And you thought only Lamborghini made agricultural equiptment. Did a number on the bottom of the car pretty good.

Some fender rubbing and a couple of mangled CF pannels. Nothing major.

Rob, see the "rubbin is racing" pictures on my site. The yellow Challenge got a bit impatient with the red one after a few laps. Jayson spoke with the red driver afterwards and he just laughed it off.

No JJ. In fact, there were only 9 cars in the feature on Saturday.

Well, close enough to knock some parts off!

That's close enough!

Sorry we missed Nika. Amanda did score an event tank top though. Wanted to wear it to church the next day.

Oh, a question. Did they ever find the owner of the "titanium 360 spyder that's blocking the technical inspection area"? The last I saw I think the workers were seriously contemplating using a forklift to remove the car :-)

"The GT cars were the loudest cars out there."

When they brought out the 333SP on Sunday, it was louder still. 360 GTs were FAS-friggen-T

A special thanks to Luigi Ballatori for being so gacious with his time and his Lamborghini.

I did not see the GTO run (and I was there all three days).

I hope Nika (racerchick) had a good time at TWS and a good trip back.

Look for an article about factory built 348 challenge cars in an upcomming FORZA.

Had a great time too. The bugs were unbelievable on the way back home Saturday. There were so many that it actually sounded like rain hitting the windshield at times. Fortunately it poored on us as we approached Houston and washed most of the bugs away.

See http://www.strahan.org/ferrari/festival/ for pictures and some small mpegs of this weekend. Based on my pictures, I appear to have been obsessed with the 360GT :-)

The bug pic was a 512TR, and it's available at 1024x768 as "bugs and horse" in the directory above.

Ohhh my gosh Tillman, the picture of the bug splats is awesome! Which Ferrari is that from, the GTO?

Do you have a high resolution image of it? Would you give me permission to use it? I think I want to blow one up to poster size and frame. That's awesome.

Sounds like an awesome time, sorry I missed it. My racing weekend wasn't so hot. I expected a few bugs with my new race car and the good news is I only had one bug, but it was the brake booster. I still raced, but sucks having the brake pedal go to the floor before getting any brakes and you go from no brakes to locking everything up. Also pedal too low for any type of heel toeing. I actually figured out to Toe - Ankle by Sunday and was only 1.5 seconds off the leaders. Sunday it was a Monsoon and I went off exact same place I totaled my car last year, except this year no tow truck was there and I just stuffed it into and over a tire wall. Very minor damage.

What a fun (& wet) weekend. At least the rain from Sunday kept the "love bugs" away. LOL! Will post rain photos soon.

BTW:
Thanks Nika & Michael, You rule! Have a safe trip back.:-O

Summary: WOW!

Went down and back on Saturday. Had a great time, met great people, battled the lovebugs and only a bum knee kept me from getting a ride on the track with Don (thanks again Don for the offer). 400+ miles in the 328 in 1 day, and it was running better at the end of the day than the beginning. I have a ton of pictures to sort out and post, so I'll just post these as a start:

I got back last night and just now have the chance to write. I went Friday and Saturday. Friday the F40 that ran was throwing fire every shift. I met the owner and it was the first time that he ever tracked the car. The GT cars were the loudest cars out there. It was awsome to hear them come down the straight and downshift into turn one. It would rattle your chest. Mr. Risi's 288 was perfect. I had never seen one, but I now would take that car over anything.

Everyone was nice and even if you aren't an owner you were still welcome. It was great to meet everyone that I did.

The race itself was exciting and the FoH car took third.

I will go back and to any other track events with Ferrari in the future.

I just got back, and all I can say is AWESOME!! If you didn't get there today, you should go for sure on Sunday. Cars of interest that I saw; 288 GTO, 333 SP, Enzo, F-40 (ran the track), 360 GT's, Murcielago, Diablo (Thanks Luigi for the ride, it was AWESOME!), an Elise, to name a few. The rumor was the 333 SP and the Enzo were going to run during the race exhibition, but it started to rain, so they stayed covered up. I hope everybody gets to go, because it was incredible. Ill post the pics when I get them developed.

BTW $15.00 at the gate, not $25.00.

The extra ten is for the catering tent, food and drinks.

I vote for clandestine ice chest in the trunk, but am glad to see any effort at all towards public viewing. This track is a wasteland if you don't prep properly.

I'll be there Saturday for sure, maybe Sunday also. 290 to Hwy 6 is nice this time of year.
Probably take a Volkswagon with the kids!

FYI FoH Says "cash" at the gate, but have a lunch/drink area for additional fee.

Just wondering if anyone from up here is headed down on Saturday, and when you're planning on leaving? I was planning on taking the 328 and go watch the action.

Looking at the schedule, it seems that I'll have to leave at 4:00 AM to see the challenges practice! Is there a faster route that I35 --> 6?
