Message from Dave Scott... Dear Ferrari high performance driving enthusiasts: Well, as I promised the other day, it's here!! Thanks to hard work by Kerry Watson and Mark Bryant of the Hill Country Region, PCA, registration forms and information for our Hotter 'n Hell Hill Country Drivers Education event July 13/14, at Texas World Speedway are now online at their web site, http://www.hcrpca.org/track/deevent.html. Registration is now open to all interested participants. You may submit your registration and payment by snail-mail, or electronically, however there is a small convenience fee for the electronic application and payment to cover the higher costs inherent in this method. This event is open to other FCA chapters, too. Grady, Mark, Rob--please encourage your folks to join us as well!! As I've been telling you, we are testing a new joint club event format for DEs. This event will use the great PCA instructors (and hopefully a few others) but will have just two run groups, Instructed, and Advanced, plus an instructor's run group. This format essentially combines the traditional green and blue, and yellow and white groups but offers significantly more track time each day. In fact, each day will have about 50% more track time than typical DEs at TWS. So what? Well, this format allows participants to come to one day instead of two and still make significant progress so for the first time in this area a single day option is available. Those participating in the full weekend will get the equivalent of 3 days of track time under the traditional DE format. Another great benefit of this format is that it allows spouses to each drive one of the two days and still allows each driver to make great progress. The rate for the event is a little higher than a regular DE, but we will have fewer drivers, and more track time for all. In fact, on a per-minute of track time, the weekend rate is the same as typical DEs. So don't miss the opportunity to make FCA history by joining us at this joint club event on July 13/14 in College Station. We expect this event to fill up so don't delay! Please make sure you read the "Special Information for Ferrari Club Members" section on the registration site. We are also looking for volunteers to help run the event. DEs require lots of volunteers to make the event run smoothly and this one will be no exception. More information about volunteering is also on the www.hcrpca.org web site. Please also read the FAQ's for info on directions, hotels, and almost everything else you will need to know. Please also make sure you print out the tech form and get it filled out before the event. A list of shops that will do tech for little or no cost is in the FAQ's. I hope you will take advantage of this great opportunity to learn to be better high performance drivers along with the Porsche Club, which has really opened its motorsports passion and event know-how to us! We look forward to seeing you on the track on July 13, 14, or both days. Please email me back, or email the contacts on the registration site, if you have any questions.
