I was on vacation when this thread was running. I went to this event several times over the years in Dallas, it was called "Italian Car Day". As mentioned below, it started at Willow Bend Polo Fields in Plano (gone now) and moved to Signature Place (Beltline/Preston) and ended up at Southfork Ranch where it eventually died.

Rodney, keep us posted if you can pull this off. It would be great to get it going once again. My brother can post the details on the local Pantera discussion group as well.

The problem with Parks is event insurance. The location of the show must have $$$$$$$ insurance. I am talking to the City of Addison, looks like they might be game for something on the grass near the convention center. The will cover insurance under their policy.

What about a nice park somewhere? I know they have craft shows etc., but might be cost prohibitive. Also, what about somewhere like SMU? 100 cars parked on the U lawn! I have connections to Gerald Ford who donated $20MM for the new stadium, maybe he could assist?

F.O.O.D.
FERRARI OWNERS OF DALLAS

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

I used to go out the Willow Bend Polo Club, I saw Bob Norwood's 308 funny car back in 1989. That was some fun times.

Does anybody go to church at Prestonwood Baptist? They have more grass than any place I've ever seen, football fields, soccer fields, baseball fields, you name it.

The problem with the 2001 show was not enough warning in either direction. I got involved 60 days before the show and sent out 500 mailers.

There were 38 cars registered @ the time of the show.

If we can get the mall to agree we will probably try for an early November by Neimans. The issue is security.

We would dearly love to find a grass field, but the cost is prohibitive. If we get the mall we can charge little or no entry fee. If we rent any of the ranch settings the entry fee would be $$$, the cheapest places with event insurance or around 4K. The last show @ Soutfork only had 100 cars X $20. FOD and FCA made up the difference.

Based on my experience w/ FOD, I'd expect them to say "only Ferraris older than 1972 or newer than 1995 need attend".

Wow, having an Italian car show on this scale again in DFW would be awesome.

The event does not currently continue. Southfork wanted $10,000 for the show field. We are looking for another venue. We are currently in talks with Willow Bend Mall. FOD wanted to do something @ their new location, but not enough room for the entire show.

I remember going to them at Willow Bend Country Club in Plano every year. That was back when there really were polo fields off of Park before the Tollway came through. I'll always remember seeing an Ferrari race car with flames painted coming out of the Prancing Horse's rear...

Well, I think you're talking about the ones the FCA put on. Back in early 2001 they had one scheduled and I showed up in a rain storm and there were only 2-3 cars. Later I found out it had been canceled and I wasn't informed.

I remember going to a few car shows that were exclusively Italian 6 or 8 years ago. One was at Southfork, another was just South of Preston and Beltline near the Signature Building. These events were usually on a Sunday. I typically found out about it from ads in the Sunday paper. I haven't seen or heard of one in years and I just wonder if any of you are aware of the event and if it continues.
