Matt - check out http://www.qv500.com/indexferrari.htm

Note the 10, count 'em - 10 different configurations of the venerable 250. Price Guides and essays galore on this excellent resource.

Wayne you are right.

So are you Matt. I think the 250PF and the 250GTE are both grossly undervalued compared to some others.

seems like a great car to own. Unreasonably undervalued 50's hand produced rare ferrari? Damn now thats a good buy.... enzo himself prolly oversaw the line back then...

Martin, as a man with a personal obsession with Ferraris of the 1950s, let me shed some light on the situation. It all comes down to the PF coupe's elegant yet boring styling, not exactly what every Ferrari owner is looking for. When looking at the various 250 series coupes, you can see a pattern. In order of most valuable:

1. 250 Europa/Europa GT -- These are two VERY different cars with similar appearances and names. Still, they share a beautiful design that has "Ferrari" written all over it. (They're also rare, however.)

2. 250 GT Boano -- This car has lost a lot of the sexiness of the Europa cars and, while nearly as rare, it commands half the money.

3. 250 GT Ellena -- Take a Boano and make it look even less sporty by raising the roofline and guess what? The value drops even more.

4. 250 GT/L -- Now here's a fair fight if I ever saw one. This car has the same production numbers as the PF coupe, so there's no advantage due to scarcity. Why, then, does it command such big $ in comparison to the PF coupe? Just look at it! It looks like it's in motion when it's sitting still and the PF coupe looks like it's sitting still even when it's in motion.

If 250 Europas could be had for under $100K, believe me, I'd be an owner. As it is, I could have bought a PF coupe a long time ago. Unfortunately, the styling is anything but sexy and, after all, that's part of what Ferraris are all about, no?

Wayne,
I don't want to argue with you. :-) You know vintage Ferrari much better than I do.

Why are they so low? I mean the car is nice and certainly not a styling horror like the 330GT-series. Even the 400 Superamerica is ugly in my book. They made a 250Cabriolet that is very nice and trades in high $100Ks. Why is the coupe so depressed.

IMO, a "good" PF coupe is worth around $65K-$70K. $80K will get you an EXCELLENT example and anything approaching $100K better be Pebble Beach material.

na, a good PF Coupe is worth $80K-$100K.
They are the non-liked Ferraris.
I personally like them.

yep, that is the one. You can tell by the bumper in the rear that is missing a finish piece.

Now today's condition:
picture the car has not been washed since the day this photo was taken and ws stored outside in the sun and never waxed. Vacume Cleaner? What is that?

...you get the picture.

The best part, the owner is laughing all the way to the bank. He bought it ceap and will sell it for the same price or more to the next guy. Drove the piss out of the car (including some track time) for free.
You can't really blame him. :-)

I was at the event, this looks like the car, except it is hard to tell. The one I saw had a smoke screen...

Martin could tell for sure, but it looks like it.

Thanks, Martin. Is this the car? If so, it's s/n 2081GT.

There are plenty of photos of the car here:http://www.250pfcoupe.com/

...and here:http://www.ferraris-online.com/cars/2081/2081a.html

I believe pics were also posted here on F-chat once when we were discussing Pf coupes with headrests a while back.

Wayne,
I was just told by a F-Chat lurker (please forgive me I forgot your name) that it was the last 250PF built. I can get you a picture in time. The owner is a Miami/Ft. Lauderdale native and drives the piss out of the car. His comment:
"restoration is for the next owner".

Matt,
it looked like a 250 to me but muy knowledge on vintage cars is VERY limited. I need to put that book here in the office that has all historic cars.
I know the owner. He comes to some track events. He drives the piss out of the car. I love it!

Well, silver is the German race color. Since I am German I figured silver is the way to go. The green is just my sick and twisted mind :-)

No offense taken Matt.

>> a really ugly 355 challenge with neon green accents against silver <<

Matt, maybe the heat REALLY got to you!! :-) LOL... challenge or no challenge... IMO, all of these cars were made for racing and not for show! Let me add that the silver/green challenge car is not a slow car, either! :-)

The lotus esprit swept the show with three trophys

I would be more worried about the squids reputation being tarnished! Good to hang out and drink some beer with you guys. Hey Martin - did you get any pics of the 'welcoming'committee there?!

Yeah, Martin, Ken and I were there defending the Ferrari name. The Lotus group sure got real quiet when Martin arrived in the 355. Almost everyone stopped by the 355 and Ken's silver 308 and my black 308 for pictures.Theres just "something about Ferraris". Way too hot though, so we left a couple of hours early. I think Ken should be inducted into the squids. Well maybe we should ask him first, it may ruin his reputation,ha.ha.I'm sure Martin will post some pictures soon.

Take I-95 to Palmetto Park Rd exit. Head West to Military Trail. Turn left heading south on Military Trail to SW 18th St. Turn right heading West on SW 18th St. to the event. The Cheesecake factory is 5-10 minutes from the event on Glades Rd next to the Town Center Mall.

It is sponsored by the Florida Region of FCA. It is posted on their website under the 'What's new news'. It isn't posted under future events, which is where you might think it would be. It is for charity and they ask that you bring a canned good to the event too.

I don't think that is an FCA Florida Region event as it is not listed in the most recent issue of the Redline or on the web site. The FCA is having a charity event coming up but it is in Naples.

The short for that would be FCA Ken! Better FCA Florida Region.
As far as coming, maybe! Guys?

The Florida chapter of the FCOA is hosting a Vintage Auto Show 9/13 in Boca Raton. It's for charity. Is anyone planning to go to this?
