sorry, i'm not much of a drinker. i suppose i just don't find much joy out of drinking. i'd rather go to saint's alp for some tea..haha. admittedly, it is pathetic that I've been here in NYC for about 4 years and I haven't gotten to know the area any better. |

Last year (maybe 2 years ago?) i saw a green Ferrari in Manhattan, with badges... Hit me, kick me, shun me, but i can't remember what it was... Most likely, it was a 550, but i'm not too sure... |

was walking by astor place today and saw Run DMC (reverend run) and his Bentley Arnage red label. vanity plates read "rev won." it's sort of OT given that it's not a Ferrari..but honestly speaking, Ferraris in Manhattan aren't too common.
I think he just ordered some peanuts from the stand...

Its not that hard to test drive a ferrari.... I was at FofLI a while back when I was shopping for cars. They just offered me to take one out. I did however speak to the salesman a few other times. But didn't put any money down and I was only 24 at the time... 25 now. I think they just need to feel that you are serious and not just someone walking off the street looking for a joy ride. |

Bonnie......I think in order to test drive a Ferrari you need to put a BIG security deposit down. Plus, the salesmen would probably go out with you, where as in other cars they dont. So basically I have taken all these cars out by myself, and return 1/2 hour later with a HUGE smile on my face. LOL |

Punta Cana is going to suck, your parent picked the wrong time to go there cus it rains for weeks, a certain time of year I was there last year, but we first arrived like 6hrs from punta cana and this place was raining straight for 3 days hard. so we left for punta cana, perfect weather! |

Funny, my parents leave for Punta Cana Saturday. I looked the weather up..they are saying rain for ten days! They are going for TEN days! Imagine, going on vacation, to some nice tropical place, and having it rain the whole time you are there. I am more happy its raining, then the snowing though. Hopefully they will get some sunshine one day on their vacation. |

We are getting a lot of rain here in NY, I hope it washes away all the excess salt and stuff on the roads from the winter. I have seen a red 355 out on the road last week, but thats about it. Rumor has it that a guy that lives near me is going to take out the F40 next tuesday. That would be cool to see!!!!! |

Saw a silver Maserati this evening; Bonwitt Shopping Center, near the Bonwit Inn, in Commack... two door coupe, very sexy... i went into the pizza place, gave my order and left... Came back, it was still there- at that time, i still didn't know what it was, but it kept me staring... the back resembled a volvo, but it was just a little too thin to be a volvo and i don't think volvo makes two door sports cars... after getting my food, i backed up and looked at the back of the car... There it read, in italic script, 'Maserati'... Didn't have a model name, though... MD plates, so i guess it belongs to a doctor... Anyone here...? Real nice car... |

Tim - The TR was red with a black interior. The wing did not look good on a street driven only TR. It would look pretty cool if the guy put a gumball on the sides, some racing decals, and took the car to the track. That would validate having the wing, imo. My eyes were on the F40!! That is a timeless eternally cool wing!!!! |

At Autosport, I saw the following; An F40 (Somebodys track toy!!) a 360 Modena Spider a Euro '87 or '88 Testarossa (dual mirrors, but single lug nut rims) with a Koenig wing. a gorgeous 308 (up for sale!!) and a 328. And a lot of Porsches. |

Ed, if it was at all possible, yes, you should have stayed a LOT longer... Now, the waves of endless snow seemed to have, well... ended... But here comes the rain- inches and inches to help melt the snow- prepare for the floods, folks, it's gonna get pretty wet... |

Ed, we'll make an exception... How was the trip...? Have fun...? i know we're not supposed to count dealerships, but i saw a 3X8 at BofLI and was wondering if it belongs to anyone, here... Very nice from what i could see- parked right next to a silver 360... There was also a yellow Testarossa and a few other cars that looked like Ferraris, but i couldn't make them out... They still have that F1 360 spider in the window- Sweeeeeet... |

DES, "Beyond the midpoint of my stay" referred to the Ferrari spotting rules you cited. As I spotted the TR during the latter half of my stay in Florida, I posted the sighting in this forum. I'll be bringing my GTB to Classic Coach for servicing next week. Hopefully most of this snow will be gone by then. Barry |

Anyway, I'm hoping for a few days of nice weather in the next couple of weeks as I'd like to get my car over to Classic Coach for servicing. Barry

Well, i just saw the video for the first time and it's a Murcielago, not a Diablo- so it was a black Murcielago cruising down the service road of the LIE in Manhasset... Anybody's here...? |

Thanks, DES, for the clarification. I'll abide by the ruling and post, in this forum, only those Ferraris permissible by regulation. I understand that all others may be posted in the Florida forum. Barry |

Barry, my official spotter's thread rule book states that if you see any Ferraris during the first half of your vacation, those spots need to be listed in the forum whos jurisdiction you're vacationing in... any Ferraris you spot during the last half of your vacation can go in here... If you should spot a Ferrari outside of NY but before you reach your vacation DEStination, that spot can go in here... Otherwise, upon reaching your DEStination, all spots for the first half of your trip must be logged in the Florida forum... Thanks for the tip on the tie- paisleys and such can get a little tedious after a while... Now i just need a Ferrari tie... Like solid yellow with a big, black horsey right in front... |

OK I know that most Ferraris are hibernating around these parts. I'm leaving for Boca Raton tomorrow and I'm sure I'll be seeing a few on the roads down there. DoES that count, DES? ps the Scrabble tie counts. |

Being new to the list I am spending a few free moments reading some of the threads. After reading this thread "Spotters" I realize that you guys are HARD CORE FERRARI HEADS!!! It only makes me want to pull out my car and meet a few of you guys. Although I not sure I have the same level of enthusiasm as you guys. Should be Fun.

Nope...car is still in pieces. Hope to have it back in a few weeks. While not an F-Car, was out for dinner in Bergen County at a local place where many of the auto guy's go, and saw quite a few of the pre-release cars from a few companies, all with Mfg plates including the new Maybach. The car is huge esp sitting next to a new S class. Had no badges on it, but who would not know what it is. This one was the SWB, but was still pretty big. Painted Grey over black. |

RED ext./TAN int. 37,500 miles (5,500 put on by me since 6/2000). Upgraded distributorless ignition, slotted brake rotors w/high performance pads, stainless steel braided brake lines, K+N, Synthetic fluids. All work done by Autosport including full major 12/2000. She'll be on Autosport's website with all the details. She'd be good for you!! And I'd love to see her go off to another good owner... |

DES, Stalking me won't help much as I rarely see F-cars myself. I just happen to go past areas I have had successful "spots" in the past and keep my eyes peeled. I saw that yellow 360 on my day off (so it was a lucky spot) and the 575 Maranello was seen on the way to my dentist (ouch!) I'll tell you one thing, the variety of cars I see on any given commute is amazing. Usually at least one great car per day. The other day I saw a black P-911 Twin Turbo. Not an F-car but still an awesome sight. It was parked on a very busy street no less!! This just in... This morning I spotted a silver 2000 Acura NSX T in a parking lot and checked it thorougly. Again, not an F-car, I know but I'll take it anyway. |

Tim & Tom- i went to St. James diner- all three cars were there, i got a booth in the smoking section where i could look out the window and see them... Food was pretty good, service was pretty good, too... Also, there's a Benz that sits out there with the three exotics- is that his, too...? Why does he leave his cars sitting out there, like that- it's snowing out...! |

David... Yes, there's TWO Testarossas out there- one yellow one, regular plate and a white one, plate reads: FULTON... also, a Detomaso Pantera (red), a few Porsches left over from when Champion used to own the place and now it's being overridden with Bentleys (a big, clunky car i've never cared for)... Although, i do anticipate seeing the new Continental GT in person- THAT one looks sweet... Yes, at one point, they had a fly yellow Diablo sitting outside and Dave, when i tell you it was gorgeous, i don't use that term lightly... it was only there for a few days, i came real close to getting all watery-eyed when i went there and it was gone... They've got a slew of other high end automobiles in that lot, that look like they NEVER leave... they used to have a crap load of Ferraris- 355s, Maranellos, Modenas- the whole nine yards, but it seems as though they've since dispursed with many of them... Definitely pull and it check it out some time... i go several times a week as it's only 15 miles from where i live, but i'm not sure how far you are from the place... Definitely check it out, there's a nice blue F355 in the window, in the front, sitting between two Bentleys... nice place, but the lot looked a "lot" nicer before Bentley took over... |

Clyde, Welcome to the chat! That's a fine looking QV you have there. Very nice!! DES, I have passed by Champion on a couple of occasions. Haven't actually stopped by the lot to do a walkaround but maybe I should. You say they leave a TESTAROSSA overnight, OUTSIDE?! What has this world come to? And on top of that, a Diablo as well? Well I guess they look at those cars as small potatoes, especially when the average new Bentley they sell is a quarter mil if not $350K! |

There's been a 360 Spyder in Teaneck on Teaneck Rd in the Gulf station for the last three weeks with a Tarp over the engine compartment. I've been watching this machine. Seems it has found a 2nd home @ the Gulf station. |

Dave, thanks for the info... The Bentley dealership by leaves all sorts of cars out, in the lot, over night... There's some snow on the yellow and white Testarossas in front, by the gate... they used to have a crap load of Porsches out there, but since Bentley took the place over, they've replaced them with, well, Bentleys... There was a yellow Diablo in the lot, once... it was there for a few days... There's a Pantera sitting in the lot right now, along with a few other Ferraris, some high end SUVs, etc... That's why i asked, it seemed odd to me for them to leave all those cars out there, but then i was wondering if this is a common practice of dealerships/bodyshops... |

Well, can't say I've been there around midnight but my guess is they leave nothing (not even a lug nut) outside overnight. They have a really small open lot in front of the shop where they usually have about half a dozen to a dozen exotics during the day. Also, during daylight hours they send cars over to their other shop around the corner so you might see some really interesting vehicles on their block. But like I said, if they're closed and locked up tight, you will get to see zilch. I don't blame them, I wouldn't leave my exotics out either. I once met one of the owners, Tom Papadopoulos (sp?). He used to race in the Ferrari Challenge Series a few years back and was mentioned for it in Forza magazine. Nice fellow, even showed me a Mondial 3.2 coupe and gave me a ride! |

Sorry for cheating, I couldn't resist. On weekends, they take all their cars and bring them inside and lock up. Can't see anything, no windows. I figured on my day off I would take a look and see if anything was out and sure enough they had plenty to look at!! DES, Autosport is just off of Jericho Tpk (North Side) on Sagamore Avenue. If you are coming from Suffolk County, turn right at the light before the railroad overpass. Once on Sagamore it's about a couple of blocks in on the right hand side. Again, you have to go on a weekday or expect to see nothing. You can see their inventory at www.autosportdesigns.com |

Just yesterday I passed by Autosport Designs in Mineola, LI. Out front they had not one, but TWO red 360 Spiders!! Don't know if they were for sale or just customer cars in for service. They were looking very fine, indeed! Sorry I did not have my camera on me... |

Tim, that's his Lotus in your profile, isn't it...? sweet car... i used to go to the Candlelight Diner, then i started going to the Millennium Diner (client), but now i think i'll start going to Billy's diner...! Let me know if you guys are ever in the area, we'll go have lunch at Billy's, on me... Thanks for the info, but... any reason why he's got all three of them out there, at the same time...? (Does he need a valet...? ) |

oh, btw, he is one of the reasons i want an esprit in the future (after i get a vette .) hes a really cool guy, young too. he also knows what hes talking about. he owned an 80's esprit and rebuilt the engine a few times (cambelts didnt want to stay intact i think). there are people on this site who think they are better than everyone else bc of their cars, not true with him. hes been away for a while though, he told me he was busy with work. |

yup, he owns the place. I can tell you that his esprit is the fastest car i've ever been in. Its a sport 350, which is the track version. Its lightened, etc. tom is correct, it was opriginaly 1 of 8, 6 of which still exist. I wonder if he put the racing 6spd tranny, intercoolers, and racing chip in yet. when i was in it it was pretty much stock except for an exhaust. Ive been in his tr and NSX (drove that baby) but never been in the F355 yet. Its funny how you have never noticed his back NSX with the OZ's. it just goes to show that they are too ordinary! |

There's a diner on Route 25 in Smithtown, here on Long Island with a silver F355 Berlinetta, a white Testarossa and, as i was just informed, now a black Lotus Esprit with a silver spoiler... Anyone know if these all belong to the owner or three separate people CONSTANTLY eating at the diner together...? Very nice cars, excellent condition... |

Hey Tim! How's college treating you? France was a great vacation, and I had a lot of fun. Enjoyed the culture and the food & drinks... Fun Run on Sunday 12/1?? What'll there be to race against? Snow plows?? Maybe I'll bring the Cherokee... HHMMM. Who else is signed up to run? Also, cops will be out in force as it is a holiday weekend, looking for drunks + speeders. Maybe not such a wise idea. |

That could be it, it was actually on 287 right before it merges onto I-95 come to think of it, close enough though that it was probably it. How many light blue Gullwings are driven around here. I forgot, yesterday I also saw a silver 360 spider appropriately on the back of a flatbed. It was being delivered or transported though, not wrecked. |

Alright, it wasn't at home in NJ like you guys, but I actually saw a Lamborghini Espada up here in CT near school. I almost fell over in surprise. Once last year I saw a 355 and a Shelby Cobra, but other than that all you see is those anemic british racing green MGs. Damn CT. Sorry I know not in NYC area, but I had to tell someone that would know what I was talking about, how often do you see an Espada, needless to say up here. |
