This is always a major topic of concern...a thread that will go on forever! I, too have a GT4. Berlinetta is a top notch organization, and so is JMS. The owner of JMS races a GT4 and is obviously extremely familiar with the car. They are located in Port Washington, which is not that far from Brooklyn (exit 36N on the LIE). Recommended.

Still waiting by the phone... i hate the waiting... the waiting is the worst... even if it's a heavy bill, just call me... call me with an update or something, please... damn, i hate this... i wish i could go down there and sit in the garage while they work on it... if i tap my foot any harder, i'm gonna break the tiles on the floor...

In fact, i just dropped my car off there, this morning... i hate it when my baby's not right outside... it's so unnerving... i'm finally getting the head light fixed... $175... having the oil leak looked at... $$$... Asked him to check out my brakes, too, i'm getting this weird vibration in the brake pedal, everytime i brake... $$$... Also, i need a new inspection sticker, so he's gonna look into that for me, as well... $$$... can't wait to get his call, i'm sure he's happy as hell...

I have a 77 308 GTB and have had a braod range of work done, clutch, carb rebuild, major tune, and have been satisfied with Bryan Vignale at Independent Motorworks in Millburn NJ.

I highly recommend Doug Pirrone at Berlinetta. I also must give high marks to someone not yet mentioned - Mike Tillson Motorcars in Philadelphia, PA. Expertise, reasonable pricing, and very friendly. Phone 215-473-6400.

lol, I'm glad someone caught on. I was gonna put a smiley on the end but I didn't want people to think I was being sarcastic in that they aren't good. It's a pretty cool place, there are pros and cons to each service shop. CC is kind of like a dealership but more personalized and has more of an old school teaching behind it's body men and mechanics (banging out steel bodies for 250GTs, etc by hand), but of course keeps up with the times and the new cars also (it's tied in with Ferrari of Central Florida).

I live in Fairfield County Connecticut, and I use Autosport Designs out on Long Island (Mineola). Their work is great and a lot less $$$ than Miller Motorcars.

Dan,

Congratulations on your "new" 308!

I'm not sure but I think Bill Pollard is actually up in Gaylordsville, CT. I believe he is listed in the directory of Forza magazine. The directory lists many NY/NJ based Ferrari shops. Great mag as well, highly recommended.

I live in Nassau County so I can give you a few names of local places to try. I don't own a Ferrari just yet :-( (almost had 308GTS) but I have had PPi's done. I can't vouch for any of these shops as far as prices, quality, etc but hope this will help you out a little.
Autosport designs (www.autosportdesigns.com), located in Mineola.

JMS Motors in Port Washington (www.jmsmotors.com). Just appeared in a recent thread here on the 'chat.

Berlinetta Motorcars in Huntington (www.berlinettamotorcars.com). Doug Pirrone has an ad on the Ferrari Club of America website (classifieds).

European Motor Cars (?) also in Huntington. Michael Franco was mentioned previously on the 'chat, do a search. Got good reviews, if I recall.

Motor Classic Corp in White Plains (www.motorclassiccorp.com)

Auto Elite in Fort Lee, NJ.

Of course, you could always try Ferrari of Long Island in Glen Cove.

I think there are a few others but I'm drawing a blank right now....

Dan;

Where are you exactly? My mechanic is located in Short Hills NJ, 20 min West of NYC. He is used by a few of us, and is fair, reasonable, and only works on Ferrari's for years. In fact he is starting on my Major service today.
