I'm from the Rochester area (Penfield). I'll definitely try to make it. What time does it start?

I used to live in Rochester when I was in high school. There was a guy I knew through a friend, as well as worked at a Chase Pitken (sp?) with him when we were both in high school. This guy's father collected Ferraris. I'm am trying and can't for the life of my remember his name - it was an Italian sounding name (I lived in East Rochester, which was nearly all Italian). He was in a nice area between East Rochester and the highway on the way to St. John Fisher college.

I don't recall the roads there being too bad, in terms of potholes, but obviously they were very salty/icy for the wintery months (and there sure felt like a lot of those).

I was cruising around downtown last night and parallel parked on Gibbs St (off East Ave) There was a red F355 GTS, and a red 80's Testarossa!

Mike,
Thanks for the list! I had no idea that we had so many nice cars in the area. I would have loved to have seen the GT2 or Murcielago or any of the other cars you mentioned. You really don't see cars like that around here too foten or at least I don't :-). Perhaps I should drive by the bars occasionally. I did hear about the 360 but by the time the news got to me I believe it was already gone.

Well, you've given me plenty of new spots to do drive by's, I feel like a stalker but it is legal to stalk cars, right? :-)

On an unrelated note, I was dropping a relative off at the Toronto airport and saw a yellow 360 spider going the opposite direction on the express way. Definitely made the trip for me and scared my passengers a bit when I accidently swerved a little as I watched it drive by.

I think there is one other F-chatter from Buffalo on here. I live in Orchard Park (home of the Buffalo Bills!). There is a pretty good F-car commnity here, but most of it is kept low-key. Not sure why though.....

Hello,

I am new to this board, not a Ferrari owner (yet ;)) but I am definitely a huge enthusiast.

Anyway, there are plenty of Ferraris in Rochester. I live in the Park Ave area and I frequently visit the bars on East/Alexander St.. There is a great restaurant on Alexander called "Rio Bamba". Drive by there on a Fri or Sat night and you *will* see Ferraris, Lambos, Maseratis, Porsche. This past Saturday there was a guards red 996 GT2, a black F355 GTS, and a unbelievable orange Murcielago - and it was raining!

Tim G: I've seen that white 328 driving around S. Goodman downtown around lunch time. There is a yellow F355 Spyder that grabs lunch on Park Ave at the "Big Apple" cafe. At Karma / Bar Fly on East Ave, there is a guy who is friends with the owner of the bars that has a Rosso Corsa F355 Spyder. One night I was outside hanging out with some friends at the bar and our table was literally 6 feet from his car. Beautiful, and he's not timid about getting on it when 100 intoxicated bar goers are harassing him to "tear it up!". There is a red F355 GTS that gets service at Craig Autometrics (East Ave). I've seen it in their lot a few times. I've also seen a F348tb on John St. in Henrietta a few times. He parks at the house right after Brother's Collision. There is a black Dino 246 on Scottsville Rd, in the boonies though. It's at a place called "Vintage Auto Sales". There was a used silver 360 Spyder at John Holtz Porsche Audi Mazda in Henrietta this spring. My contact there said that it was sold to a Kodak Exec for $250k+ (???). I haven't seen it since.

Mr. Feinburg, gorgeous car! Those wheels are a great touch.

Anyway, happy motoring.

Best,
Mike

Hi Gents,
I live just outside of Rochester...
My 365BB resides here, as well. As I've spent the last 20-25 years or so rebuilding/restoring these fine automobiles, feel free to drop me a note if you need a hand...

Regards,
David

Actually, a number of Ferrari's in Rochester area, relatively speaking. But,most keep a low profile. Usual cross-section of 308/328's, 348/355's, Testarossa's, & Mondials. Not much in way of vintage stuff.

Unfortunately you're right, Rochester isn't a very fun town. I'd definitely move if I could line up a job elsewhere, just about anything would be a step up for me at this point. If you're curious, yes, I'm in the IT industry :-) I'm getting kind of jaded doing this stuff though, been at it for a long time and I need a change. Anyone reading this that is looking for a smart, ambitious person to hire in any industry feel free to private message me (did I mention I'm a quick learner? :-)). Back on topic again, I actually saw a white 328 the other day, tried to catch up but got stuck at a light.. oh well.

Tim
I used to live in Rochester back in 1993. Ted Spall of Spall homes owned a red TR. I rarely saw him drive it. Rochester is not a town where people like to flaunt their money. I think he was a little embarrassed to be seen in it.

Here's a Rochester joke: The coldest winter I ever spent was the summer I spent in Rochester.

Thanks for the info Richard. I've actually seen a few here and there but not very many. I don't travel to Buffalo very often but over the last few years in Rochester I've seen a couple 355's, a 512TR, and a Lamborghini Diablo. Needless to say my sightings aren't exactly plentiful :-) Luckily I have Watkins Glen nearby so I can check out the Ferrari Challenge every year where I get to see plenty of F-car's.

Tim.....

Yes, There is "F" car life in Buffalo and Rochester. None of it mine mind you, but there are several cars in the area ranging from old clapped out 308s to 360s. several 355s, some 328s and couple of TestaRossas as well as a smatering of Mondials. No "vintage" cars that I am aware of but it is not hard to "fly to under radar" around here. There have been several unique cars in the area that have gone un-noticed. One of the Daytona Prototypes used to reside in Geneseo with an old friend of mine. Had the chance to ride and drive the car years ago.....SWEET! This was the silver prototypw with the 275 style nose....that puppy did get up and motor! Another aquaintance had one of the fiberglass early 308s...

I'm not from there yet the wife and I did a B&B in Hammondsport (Fingerlakes wine country) last weekend...beautiful up there. I am still shocked at the cost of homes...I thought I was in a time warp reading a newspaper from the 50's

Welcome!

Cheers,

Wow.. I have a friend that lives in Ithaca and I don't think he's seen one in the 2 years or so that he's lived there. I'll have to tell him to keep an eye out.

There are some 6 Ferraris in the Ithaca area. At least 3 of the owners log in here from time to time.
