Sam You have to make sure that the car will pass. Best is to have it done by a Ferrari dealer in NY. Maybe you have to make a deal with the seller that he picks up the tab as part of the deal. Rijk |

I have an 86 Mondial and every year it's lean lean lean to pass NY inspection. This year was filled with machine problems too, so the milage driven during inspection was more than the road mileage last year! Any suggestions? |

If you worry about passing NY emissions, you should find a shop (most likely a separate shop than the PPI shop) in NC and do an emissions test prior to purchasing the car. Compare the numbers to see if the car will pass NY emissions. If it looks like the car will not pass, you should negotiate with the seller on repairs or walk away. The PPI will check to see if the cats are in place, but it will not tell you if it'll pass NY emissions. After you purchased the car you're on your own. And emissions on an older Ferrari can be a nightmare. |

The inspection company doesn't do that, but they will check that the cats and airpump are in place. Thanks Sam |

Then perhaps that's what Sam should do as part of the PPI. I know emissions can sometimes be a pain in the a$$. |

sure, just need to find out the acceptable levels for the various measures in NY and have the shop in NC perform a test for you |

Just curious, is it possible to pay a shop in NC to do an emissions test? You can compare the results with NY requirements and see if youll have problems in NY. |

if everything is working properly I would not think you would have an issue - make sure the ppi do not reveal anything |

Hello: Can anyone tell me if the Mondial 8 is prone to any particular trouble passing NY emissions testing? I am purchaing one now in North Carolina, and it has its air pump and "cats" in place. Thanks Sam |
