Some of the best work I've seen was done by Precisione Auto Body, in Mt. Vernon, NY, right off I-95. - (914) 664-7058, 775 South 3rd Ave., Mount Vernon, NY. Ask for Nick. My uncle has been using these guys for years with his car collection, and I've had paint work done on both my TR and 355, and even professional paint guys can't tell work was done on eiher of my cars. Great attention to detail. I hear that WWofC does very good work as well, but when I had a fender bender, I priced it at WWofC and then at Precisione, and it was thousands less at Precisione. The work was excellent - can't tell the car was ever repaired. David Noto P.S. Good to have, but I hope you never this info.

There is a place on Long island called Blue Ribbon(BR)- Cleveland Ave. I know someone who had there Boxer(Black) done there, because he was not happy with Ferrari quality when new. The guy at BR is a fanatic about cars has a Ferrari and other exotics. He is not cheap. |

I too, recommend Berlinetta Motorcars in Huntington, NY. They painted my 365BB 19 years ago, and it still looks great... |

I would say if you live in southeastern PA to send your car to Cavallo autobody. They do all the work on almost every mercedes that is in an accident. They only do high end cars lambo's, Ferrari, Maserati, and mercedes. Recently they did body work on a new murci and 550. They do great work and I am good friends with the owner. Let me know if you want their contact info. Erik |

Barney's question is a real good one. If you aren't from this area, please let us know and we might be able to provide suggestions that fit best with your locale. I recommend Berlinetta Motorcars in Huntington, NY. Last week I stopped by to check on things and took a close look at the owner's 'glass 308GTB. The paint on this car is 15 years old and is still perfect. They've painted a few Pebble Beach winners (Joe Rosen's SWB California Spyder for example) and know Ferraris. Just some suggestions for your consideration: When spending multiple thousands on a paintjob (a good job isn't cheap) don't be distracted by work that's a couple of months old or "in-process" when shopping for a bodyshop. Of course its important to see how a body shop works, but its more important to see how their work looks over time. Especially if you intend to keep the car. If you need more info, I'm sure the good folks on this board will help. Best wishes on getting your car in shape. |

I was at Wide world of cars this past Saturday...don't know about their body shop, but their shop included a Deusenberg and an Enzo, so people trust them with some serious machinery! By the way the Enzo died with 80 miles on it after the new owner forked over $1.3MM to buy it....I bet he (or she) can't wait to get that car back! |

I'd recommend Die Karrosserie here in King of Prussia, PA...speak with a Mr. VonMedicus. According to Mike Sheehan's website, you'll need at least $7,000.... http://www.ferraris-online.com/Articles/SCM_0006.html

Classic Coach in Elizabeth NJ is the only place to go for painting and body work. The owner, Frank, also owns Ferrari of Central Florida. They use to be the only authorized body shop in North America by FNA until recently. Word of warning, they are not cheap. However, you get what you pay for. They do a lot of the big money cars to (250 GTO). |

I went to WWoC (recommended by my Porsche mechanic) to get an estimate for a hood respray on my 911. Can't remember his name, but the guy I met with was so overloaded with work and distracted, in fact, the entire place was humming, I wonder if you'll get the attention you need. They seem to have a good reputation, but I left there thinking, ?No way am I going to let these guys touch my car!" |

I have this posted in the technical Q & A as well, but really need some help from some local guys. I have a 308 with some body damage (passenger door, front spoiler, front grill) and I have decided to have the whole car stripped and repainted. I went to a reputable body shop that I have used before and that is pretty good. I got a quote for just the labor that seems very expensive. The shop has never repaired a Ferrari before, they do mostly insurance jobs and dealer work. So I need some rough estimates as to what guys have paid to have your car stripped and repainted. The car does need some body work, but I will be buying the parts myself and dropping them off at the shop. Has anyone used any body shops in the northeast that they STRONGLY recommend? I really want the car to come out perfect because I plan on keeping it. Time is not really an issue, but I don't want to get raped on the price because as you all know the parts are very expensive. If anyone has had any bad experiences please share those as well so I know what to look out for. I really appreciate the input guys, thanks. |
