FYI to everone - I don't think there are lights at Bald Hill, so get there early. It gets dark at 7:20 pm. Let's meet at 6:00pm, there are a lot of nice cars to see there and 45 mins is not enough time. I picked up a nail on Sat. so I have to get a rear tire fixed,

Best wishes on getting a swift solution. Hopefully its just a bad O2 sensor or something like that.

Worst case, the 280SL would be a welcome sight for me - I have a soft spot for Benzs too.

I have a good mechanic and believe me I will be with him very early tomorrow. I don't think this is going to be a one day repair... lol. I'll still be going to bald hill anyway. Either with a freshly repaired car or I may have to dust off my old 280sl.

I'm not going out there that early. As for Tuesday, I'm from Manorville, but would probably be able to meet up earlier if anyone wanted to. I think Barney said he was going to be off that day. I'd probably be able to be free by 3:00. If anyone wants to hang out poolside at my house prior to going over there, you're welcome to. I'm about 15 minutes from Bald Hill.

It should be a great day for a cruise. FYI, at 9:00am on Sundays at the OBI there is a huge crowd of cars and bikes that show up. Usually a couple of Ferraris there. I won't be able to make it tomorrow though. If you are located on the south shore and want to meet prior to the ride up to Applebees on Tuesday night, let me know.

Rijk, I wish I had your delemma :-)

I am on the south shore too so those who want to meet off Sunrise Hwy, I can do that, then we can meet up with the rest of the caravan at Applebees. So what time would make the most sense? 6:00 on Sunrise? 6:30 Applebees? Barney, what do you suggest?

And Rijk, for what its worth, BRING THE DAYTONA PLEASE.

OK... I just drove through there. I think Applebees would be the easiest place to meet. When you get off of the LIE at exit 63 (N.Ocean Ave.) go north and then Applebees is right there on your right (east) side. From there Bald Hill is about a mile or so away. What does everyone else think? Barney?

Barney, Isn't there an Applebee's or something right there on N. Ocean just north of the expressway? Maybe we could meet in that parking lot. I'm sure I'll be passing through that area in the next day or so. I'll check it out. Also what time were you thinking of meeting? I'm planning on cutting out of work early....

So where do we meet up? There is insane traffic getting there if you are not in early. Also, the cops are everywhere, so don't do anything foolish close to the event. Maybe I'll take the Jag, not many of them there that I remember.

Yes there was a problem originally. It was one of the few that were known to have leaking cylinder liners (water will get into the oil). Since it was out of warranty nothing I can do about it. Anyway the water caused the oil to dilute and I spun a rod bearing. So what would have been a winter job has to be done at the best time of year for these cars when the air is cooler and denser. Hopefully I will have her running before November

Ahh to bad billy, but cool sounds like its for the right reasons. That Esprit will certainly turn into a beast. Was there an original problem with the engine or you just wanted to beef up the engine in general? I have a huge admiration for the Esprit! Good luck with it

Unfortunately Tom I am doing a complete engine overhaul. The car will be out of commission for a month or so, cannot wait to get her up and running again. Will be pushing close to 550hp when I am done.. So its either NSX, 355, or testarossa

Sounds possible. Went with the TVR severals weeks back. Don't think this venue is really for exotic cars, much more of the 50s, 60s, muscle, some pro street and the usual Rice.

I hope you can make it. We will get together for a drive SOON! My weekends have been so busy and my car just got back on the road about 2 weeks ago.

Bonnie, We were about one row over and a little further back than that Porsche. Although it probably would have been hard to see our cars because of the tremendous crowd of beautiful young women that were surrounding us.... uh... our cars :-) Right, Barney?

Bald Hill is on North Ocean Ave. (Exit 63) LIE north about 1 mile or so. There are signs to follow for the Brookhaven Ampitheater parking. The show is in that lot. It's usually pretty obvious because of all the cars heading there.

Where is Bald Hill? (What exit off the L.I.E.?) My best time from Darien, CT to Mineola was around 35 minutes in my 308...
I'll try to hit the show sometime, but being on a Tuesday makes it difficult. My weekdays usually find me stuck at work.
We definitely have to go for a drive sometime Barney!!!

Is the 9th the agreed date...? If i say i'm coming, are the rest of you still gonna show...? i'm without transportation, so i'll be dependent on The Bird to get me there- i'd love to go there and see some Ferraris...! i'll ask her about it on Monday when i see her, it'd be really cool to have a sort of get-together... The other cars that are there are nice, but they just don't do it for me... i'd love to see some Horses up in the mix...

Count me in on the 9th. I need a good reason to get me away from work early and this sounds like it. Thanks for getting in touch Barney.

Good idea Ed. The only problem I see for some is that it might be difficult for people to get their early because of work. I will be off that day so maybe we can get enough guys to "hold" or secure the space for the rest of our fellow f-chatters. I will email privately all the NY/Long Island people tonight and try to drum up interest. I will make a list of participants and post updates here.

The 9th works for me too. We should definately arrive early and together so we can claim some decent "real estate".

I'd be interested in a September 9th showing.
Can we organize something? Who can make it?

How about a big showing of Ferrari's on September 9th? We can all meet here at my place or we can meet for a bite to eat somewhere and all go together?

I've heard you have to get there early because they close access to the show once the field gets full. This makes sense but if you show up after 6:30 there is no guarantee you will get in. I'd bring my car next Tuesday if a bunch of us were going to show up.

I live in Great Neck, but my mom lives in Farmingville, so I know the way. I may like to go IF it were part of a showing of a few cars.

Ed, last time i was there, there was the usual imports, muscle cars and some unusual-but-cool stuff, but i'd heard that there are sometimes Ferraris there and that a Diablo showed up once, so i was hoping to see that which i lust... Guess i went on the wrong night... Post a thread next time you guys head out there...

Hi Ed

Thanks for inviting me again! Gianna wants to go with Daddy in his "Ferrari car" everywhere now. I think when she was sleeping she got more attention than the car (I guess thats the way it should be!). look at our post times - great minds think alike.

Hey DES, Your ears must have been ringing last night. We were saying that you would really like it there. I went about 5 times this past summer. Last night was Barney's first time. I've seen a few "fake" Ferraris there in the past. A couple of panteras too. Some of the other car clubs make a real nice showing down there. We should try to organize something before the end of the season. They are only going to keep it going through September.
Barney, It was fun hanging out with you and your daughter. The car seat in the Ferrari was a big hit with everyone!! lol

Here are some pictures from last nights car show. The car show is held every Tuesday night at Bald Hill from 6 pm to 10 pm. $4 to get in (fire department donation) and everything to eat or drink is $1. Ed P and I were the only Ferrari's there but there was a lot of nice cars. They even had a military helicopter. Anyway, Ferrari's could make a nice showing there if we could get a bunch of us down there.
