I park my 360 Modena in a garage near my apartment. The layout of the garage is spacious and flat. Plus, I have my own parking spot against a bearing beam on my left, a wall behind me, and a car that hardly gets driven on my right. I pay $600/month which is a rip off.

I don't really see too many Ferrari's in the city. I live on the Upper East Side, so you'd think there would be a few. Perhaps I don't get out enough.

Anyway, sometimes I see a dark blue 360 Modena parked outside a cafe on 66th and 2nd. Does this car belong to anybody here? I also saw a 360 Modena parked outside Umberto's in Little Italty a few weeks ago. I couldn't really imagine driving a Ferrari in the city, as my G500 gets thrown around quite a bit. Do you guys park your cars in special garages? My garage has quite a steep incline, and I would think there would be some damage when going up/down?

I've spotted Ice-T a few times in the city. His Ferrari is that gorgeous california blue (I think that's what it's called) - very impressive to behold.

I even gave him a thumbs up once when I was in my NSX (I know he's an NSX fan too)... I got a nod in return which was pretty cool.

Ice is a pretty hardcore looking dude in person... LOL

Wow that's impressive, because I'm driving in the city a lot and I rarely see them on the street. But I imagine not everyone is so adventurous as to put a Ferrari throigh the paces of the Manhattan streets regularly.

Yeah, Ice-T lives in the building directly across the street from me and his 360 is in the garage I use (along with one of the Roc-a-Fella Records founder's yellow Mucielago w/ 20-inch chrome wheels.)

I believe there are around 20-30 Ferraris in Manhattan. This is according to the Ferrari of Long Island guy who drives the flatbed. What I heard was the Ice T (the actor/rapper) has the exact same car as me. His is over on the west side somewhere.

I have a blue 355 spider (see my profile), and Hubert has a very nice titanium silver 360 coupe. I know of both cars that you mentioned; I believe the yellow 360 is a spider, too. I have seen both cars in the City.

Thanks for the details guys -- VERY much appreciated. I'm particularly glad to hear that Hubert's damage has been limited to relatively minor parts (given that there are extra sets of wheels on eBay all the time for $1500 - $2000).

And good suggestions on roads to avoid John ... thanks!

BTW -- what color cars are you in? There's a yellow 360 I see a lot and a Black 355 Spider I just saw last night around 63rd St....either of you?

Noah, I have a 355 spider and I use it frequently in the city. Nose scrapping is unavoidable, but you could significantly reduce the risks of blown tires, bent rims or other more costly damages by exercising common sense. There are only a few roads that a F-car could drive at a "reasonable" speed without much hesitation:

 5th Ave
 6th Ave
 Lex Ave
 Park
 Columbus
Westside Highway (south of 96th street)

During the day, its much easier to spot and avoid potholes, but in the evening the best way to avoid them is to observe the car in front of you. When it drives over a large sink hole its pretty hard to miss.

The roads you need to exercise extra caution are:

 Madison Ave
 10th Ave
 1st,2nd,3rd Ave
 Broadway (south of 42nd street)
Financial District (Broad, Williams, Wall, etc)
FDR (northbound) pass 42 Street exit

I have encountered everything from steel plates, rocks, bumps, potholes and sinkholes, etc

Good Luck!

I have a 360 Coupe and I live in Manhattan as well. The only type of damage that I sustain when driving around in the NYC area are:

1) Cracking of the rims
2) Nose scraping
3) Flat tires

I have had no underbelly problems or anything like that related to more delicate parts of the car. Just be careful when you drive the 360 coupe and give yourself at least 3 cars length in front of you so you can see the condition of the road! That would be my advice.

Yeah I hear you both. The worst hit my Jetta had was at night on 52nd & Lex a few months ago ... I dare even call it a pothole that I hit -- more like a small asteroid crater. Bent wheel (17"), blown tire, bent spindle -- all in the blink of an eye.

Is the 360's suspension typical of a low-running supercar (i.e. am I going to be bending lots of spindles?)

Thanks for the responses so far...

I have an S4 with 17" wheels that have been abused beyond belief courtesy of NY/NJ roads. Believe it or not, I am actually one of the lucky ones, that is also with pratically memorizing the location of all major potholes and dips on the road in Manattan. I would be a little more concerned with the newer Ferraris since they all have the ground effects underneath which can be damaged by just curbing the car. And needless to say, Mr.Glickenhaus is right, potholes are real difficult to avoid at night.

The real issue is driving at night. During the day you can usually see the potholes. At night it's harder. That said use the car. I drove my TR in and out of NYC for years and many miles (115K) The rust killed it before the potholes did.

I know...there was another topic about Manhattan Potholes, but that turned into a trollfest and I'm actually interested in some real info from those more experienced and wise than I.

So silly or otherwise, I'm getting a 360 Coupe and I live in Manhattan. I'm trying to get some information about what I can realistically expect for road damage so I can (try to) budget for it.

Is it just a matter of nose scraping, flat tires, and bending/cracking wheels? Or is it more serious (oil pan, other underbelly stuff, etc.). My VW Jetta had only 1 tire/wheel blowout but 3 cracked oilpans this past winter, so that's my point of reference.

Any info would be much appreciated!
