LOL, Gus...

There's something about insuring the health and lives of thousands of people and drinking that doesn't mix, either...

but i'll tell you what DOES mix... OJ and vodka... :-)

DES,
That's okay buddy. You've seen the town that I work in and I have to be sober all day. Something about appraising customer cars and drinking alcohol that doesn't mix. Go figure.

"true" should be replaced with 'traditional'; collecting the perfectly stock stuff from the factory does not a 'true' collector make- just traditional. Do you think Jim's not a 'true' collector 'cause his finished P4 will have a roof when the one that raced was open...? Or 'cause J6 doesn't have it's original serial # plate...? i could go on and on...

Todd:

I have someone interested in your car at a price above $50K. Email me at [email protected] for the contact info. If he buys the car then you have to pay Hutch the $100.00.

Eli:

There is a McIntosh (spelling?) radio upgrade for the 360 that is awesome if you are willing to spend the $6K or so for the system. While a car with the McIntosh will have a great sound system, that particular 360 for a true collector will be worth less in value than a totally "stock" car. A true collector wants a car the way it left the factory regardless of the quality of the upgrades. If you plan on keeping your 360 for awhile, you do not plan on showing your car, and you have the extra cash, then I would look into the McIntosh system.

I think this car will fetch $50k I have never seen it but if you want a 328 and live in the tri-state area they are pretty tough to find in the classifieds. If you go to algar they will try and sell that car for much more. They had two 308's there a few months back and they were asking low to mid 40's for. So for an extra 5-10g's I would rather buy a good 328 IMHO. Just my 2cents

wow, even DES is making sense.
Ken, i never understood why upgrading a stereo system bring the value of the car down. i have been told by my dealer the same thing also. the stereo on my 360 is horrible but am scared to touch it because of the drop in value.

i have to agree with Driving Gloves over here, the bet is on the selling price of the car, not how much Todd goes home with; the selling price is the basis of the entire argument. Bet should be on the selling price of the car before commissions or whatever are divied up or slapped around or whatever.

There. i have spoken.

KEN - We will go by the selling price of the vehicle. Period. End of story.
Commissions (if any) will NOT be deducted from the selling price.
The selling price obtained for the vehicle is what we are wagering on. NOT how it gets divided by any and all parties involved. It is that simple.
Do you accept?

OK guys. I have gotten some hate mail, so I would like to clarify my last post. Todds car would have gotten a platinum if it were not for the stereo equipment. Considering that the two cars that won platinums were national winners, that says a lot about the quality of Todds car. With that said, most of the 328s there had stereo equipment. When judging, we are required to deduct for any personalization of the car. This includes any and all stickers and shields (if not factory ordered), stereo amps, seat covers, and other modifications. Those are not my rules, but FCA rules. This has nothing to do with the quality of the car, but with judging the car as it left the factory.

As to my comments about the price, perhaps I should not have commented or sent Todd a private email, but I fail to see how my comments are inappropriate, rude, or unprofessional. It was just my opinion based on the selling prices I have seen lately, and my price was only a few thousand less than his asking price. I may very well be wrong who knows. We will soon find out once Todd sells the car. Further, the price I stated was if a fellow Fchat member purchased the car. If Todd places the car on consignment at a dealer, he may get $50K plus for the car, however, he will then have to pay a commission. Regardless, I like Todd and sincerely hope that he gets his full asking price. I was just stating my .02 and obviously it did not go over too well. No harm was intended guys.

Hutch, I will accept your bet of One Hundred Dollars ($100.00), however, I want a copy of the check that the purchaser gives Todd as proof of the sales price and we deduct any commissions that are due if any.

Ken

Classic John...makes you wonder huh? I guess you feel the love too...LOL

Reality is, three QUALIFIED Ferrari professionals that have been in the Ferrari business their entire life (a colleague at FNA, my Ferrari-only mechanic and the owner at a Ferrari dealer) all stated that I should expect to get $50K for the car...hence me asking $52K

Cheers!

LOL, Todd... i'll give you two bucks for the car- three if you drop it off at my house. :-)

Ken is right in one respect; anyone looking for an award-winning garage queen will not be interested in Todd's car... However, Augustine is right, as well... Anyone looking for sweet-ass Ferrari that also comes with a bangin' system, well... they'll be ringing Todd's phone...

i also like Hutch's idea that the buyer of the car should be an automatic on your invite list everytime you're having a get-together at the Gin Mill...

So Todd, what are you replacing it with...? Enquiring minds want to know... & post pictures... :-)

KEN - I will make you a bet right now that Todd gets at least $49,500.00 or more for his 328 within the next 2 months.
WAGER IS $100.00 U.S. DOLLARS
ONE-HUNDRED DOLLARS

IF NO SALE AFTER 2 MONTHS (DEADLINE NOV. 11,2003), THEN YOU WIN.
IF IT SELLS FOR $49,499.00 OR LESS, THEN YOU WIN.
OTHERWISE, I WIN!!

POST UP IF YOU ACCCEPT THE BET!!!!

Ken,
I understand that you are a judge and that originality is a key factor in judging, but I don't know if you are doing Todd any favors here. I think that T has taken a nice car, made it pristine, and then personalized it to his tastes. Although a few of these light mods may not be what a FCA judge would consider worthy additions to the car, another potential owner might find that they fit his or her personality perfectly. I like originality also, but after seeing Todd's car, I found it to be very tasteful. Just my two cents. :-)

I actually judged Todd's car last year at Garden State. A lot of the 328's had stereo equipment that we deducted points for. There were about 3 cars that were in the running for a platinum, and 2 that received platinums. Unfortunuately, neither one was Todd's car (stereo equipment killed him in points). The 328 class is usually a difficult class since one or two national winners show up. This has happened to me several times when I show my car. There is no way the average joe can compete against a 3K mile garage queen who trailers his car to the show.

As to your price Todd, in this market you will be hard pressed to get much over $45K despite the excellent condition of your car. Your best bet is to sell it to a neighbor or friend who is not current with Ferrari prices. The stereo system actually hurts the value of the car. Best of luck in selling it and finding your new Ferrari.

Todd's car is sweet and he keeps it in fanstastic shape, he would have won a prize at the Garden state concours last year if the judges did not substract for the the killer stereo he added to the car. Any one looking for the 328 should check his out

What will the replacement be? A 355 GTS or 355 Spyder??
