Greg...I like your idea of a Get together...the wife and I just moved to LI from Manhattan...found a fixer-upper/starter home in Lynbrook...nice little town, close to the city...though the Incorporated Village thing makes for some stupid rules. I suppose that whom ever called just couldn't handle confrontation and had to have the Cops do their dirty work....heck, if they just came by and said something I would have toned things down.. I'm a reasonable guy...with the euro-ansa system on my car I'm not sure I could have toned down too much |

Next time..start up the lawn motor and let it run while your tuning your Carbs.... Sorry to hear that your neighbor is so jealous of your good fortune..(his wife probably would let the old guy get that sports car he dreamed of as a young man!) Great car! Enjoy... |

This just happened to me the other night on a different scale though. On Sat. night I was at a party and there was no loud music or anything but the kids neighbors called the cops. Next thing you knew there were 6 cop cars outside of the house giving everyone breathalizers(sp). Don't worry I didn't drink anything. Thank god. But, why wouldn't the neighbors just come over and say something. Instead they called the cops and got like 15 people to have underage citations. They didn't accomplish anything and those kids weren't going to drive anyway if that was a problem. Erik |

Funny thing. I was just talking about this with my friend Ken. Anywhere, anytime, anyplace somebody is having a good time, there will be somebody else who will complain about it. I call this "THE FUN POLICE". When I was a kid all my neighbors had 3 or 4 horse lawnmowers, nobody said a thing, but if I started my 4 HP mini bike on my Dads property they all went nuts."THE FUN POLICE! How come people can roar all over the place in very high HP speedboats, BUT, fire up a jet ski and people are complaining all over the place wanting to pass laws banning or restricting them. I don't know? Seems to me they are nothing more than a 1 person boat."THE FUN POLICE!!" Look around there are trails all over the place for moutain bikes, but try to find a place to ride a dirt bike."THE FUN POLICE!!!!Try to exercise your car a little bit and what happens, some guy in the left lane insists on going 55 to hold you to 55. All of a sudden he thinks its his responsibility to make you go ONLY 55. "THE FUN POLICE!!!! My friend Ray skydives. He told me there were people trying to pass laws banning it, because it was "to dangerous" He knows the risk and accepts it. People minding other people biz. "THE FUN POLICE!!! I went out for a ride on my bicycle one night and this old guy comes out and starts asking me who I am and what am I doing, and why I'm riding up and down his block. His block? I guess he owns it. I said I was exercising. Not good enough. He called the Police on me To report a man riding a bike. Oh my God!! Felony of the year! "THE FUN POLICE!!!" Sorry I had to vent a little. This is one topic that really gets me going. Hey Paul, I have an idea. Where you located. We can have a littlr Ferrari get together at your place and let him listen to about a Doz. cars, |

Some people have nothing better to do than complain. I think it's stupid that whoemever called the police was too lazy to come over to your house and say something. |

was tuning the carbs on my 308 yesterday afternoon for about 40 minutes or so (just after cutting the grass and cleaning up some leaves)...took the car out for a test run...came back home and my wife told me that the police stopped by responding to a complaint that someone was reving an engine...this is at about 12:30 in the afternoon...my wife and my next door neighbor (also a car nut) said they didn't hear anything...I'm just really PO'd that someone would call the police and I had just finished cutting the lawn and using a gas powered blower/vac which make a bit of noise...I suspect that a crotchety old man that lives directly behind us called but I'm not sure...any thoughts on finding out who the person was that called...cops wouldn't give them up.. |
