For the first time ever Dino Competizione went for a long drive in the US. She's back safe and sound and ready for many more adventures. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I see that she has a 2010 NYS inspection sticker. Imagine the thrill for the mechanic who got to certify her for her maiden voyage! Fred
If I'm looking at Google maps correctly at the different results, it looks like a fun little run. Especially the Washington, NY area. Not sure if I've asked this before since you participate in numerous events and drives but have you ever participated in the Copperstate 1000 in AZ? Met a nice father/son team from your coast with a gorgeous Alfa 6C last year. Fun event. It just took place again this last weekend. If you're ever out to AZ for that event in the Dino, would love to stop by and see this beauty in person. Cheers
Good crowd and a rather diverse mix of cars. Two Blower Bentleys, Alfa 6C 2500, a few Gullwings, Delahaye, several Ferraris, etc. Cheers
Took Dino for another long drive. I think we finally have her fully sorted. Once warmed up she really pulls. I'm shifting at 7K even though her Red Line is higher. Her Weber's are great. I've gotten used to her crash box and her cockpit with the ventilation fan is very cool. She really sticks and doesn't tram line even though she has a lot of tire. She feels feather light. Visibility is good and she has a lot of low end torque. She feels like a baby P4 to drive but on very tight roads is easier to drive. Her hill climb gearing and very low weight make her a lot of fun on the street.
I would think Ferrari would not have used their traditional suspension bushing from that era in a racecar. Did Ferrari employ something dead solid like a delrin equivalent during the day?
What's her actual redline btw? Great description of the driveability and gear. Really puts things into context and must have a deep braking point for being so light. After watching the video of the 250SWB in the vintage thread and your description here, it reminds me why I love these light cars and GT coupes. Cheers Edit: Not to go off topic but speaking of light cars. Watch this dance between a Lotus Elan vs a low drag Jag e type. Lots of fun! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFyq1jULpzE&feature=channel_page
