I think the 206's are really cool. I love the looks being shorter and lower. It looks and feels so compact. I have a lot to learn about the 206's so I'll need to know who the 206 experts are. The cars seems to be mostly original with the correct bumpers, gas cap, shift knob, exhaust, wheels, spinners, interior, headlights, tools, books, original glass, etc. The engine was rebuilt not long ago. The car has a heritage certificate from Ferrari showing the correct#'s and is still in it's original Rosso Chiarro with black interior. I plan on doing a total restoration at some point in the near future. I want to do it exactly as it came from the factory as close as I can do. So this one I will not be changing the color or taking other liberties. The car interior is all vinyl including dash, I assume leather was not available or option? The seats have red cloth inserts. So I will need the help of the 206 experts on this site to steer me in the right direction as to parts and originality.

Congrtatulations, Jon. Very nice to see an untouched 206 GT !!! That is a rare find and indeed very precious. Compared to the latter 246GTs, there are many differences not obvious by apprearance. As for the engine, the 206 has less torque and power, but revs at higher rpm which gives different driving experiences. Those exhaust tailpipes look original too. Wonderful. w/ smiles Jimmy

You pretty much took note of the differences there, and very nice comparison pics too. May I add also, the door key location and few more interior layout differences ? Thanx. w/ smiles Jimmy

If I am not wrong, it was not black and should be the same as the 246s, Jon.

Dino is a very popular car here in Japan. I believe that out of the 150 or so Dino 206, a substantial number of them reside in Japan. As a matter of fact, this shop near my house who deals mainly in carbed F cars and Dinos, and the broker must have imported/bought/sold over a dozen of 206s. They do quality restorations also. At one time I remember seeing three Dino 206s in his shop for somekind of work. w/ smiles Jimmy

Jon- Very nice! Your vinyl dash (no mouse hair), wheels, knockoffs, steering wheel, reverse lights, center console, pass grab handle, firewall-mounted headrests, and seatbelt beckles are identical to my L-series 246 SN 00462. My dash is aluminum/silver finish. FYI, Tom Shaughnessy helped me find replacement levers for the vent controls on the center console; you might give him a try when the time comes during your intended resto.
