I think this should be a new thread, as not to confuse issues:

The long straight strips, at the bottom of the glass, Ted Rutlands has them. It took me two years to find them!

The L strips, if enough interest is there, possibly could be reproduced if the order warrants it.
    Maybe someone knows.

    Regards, Alberto

    Why are L strips?
I wouldn't mind a full set of everything

I am looking for Thr chrome strip that starts parallel to Thr front windshield and goes above the door frame. It is not part of the door
    This is a Gt.

What do you mean by "the L strips"?

The ones that go around the perimeter of the door frame on a GT. They start vertical, then make a 90 deg. turn to the front of the door. Part # 40 on Tavola 109.
Whereas the long horizontal chrome strip on the top of the door that runs from end to end next to door opener, is # 2 same Tav.
I am too lazy to upload it. You do have a parts book I hope...

Here in Germany we have also some Dinos without these trims.
I have one as spare and would give it as sample for reproduction if a company is interested.

    Hi Alberto,

I need the L trim for my 73 246GT LHD euro-spec. As you said it is part #40 on Tav 109,

The passenger side one is missing completely. The drivers side is still there but it is in two pieces - the vertical strip at the rear edge of the door frame and the 'horizontal' piece that runs along the top of the door frame. Probably should be one piece as that is what the parts manual shows, plus it is the same for either side.

Count m eon for a pair please.

I could remove my driver's door trim and send it to you if you like.

    Simon

Simon, I need them too....+ the right roof gutter piece.
If we can get enough orders together we can have them made.
Personally, that's slightly out of my league, unless someone shows me how to make them, then I'll be more than happy to oblige.

    Regards, Alberto

    Nico,
Colin, at Superformance expressed some interest in having that kind of part re-made, and probably it is either Brandoli in Italy, and now that I think about it, the guys that make the Phony Dinos in the UK. Give them a call someone? My time zone makes it difficult.

I need the door frame "L" pieces AND the roof rain gutter trim for both sides of mine.
Interesting--- I thought I was the only one missing those. :)

    Mine's a Euro car too-- 2840

Count me in on those pieces for sure.

The guys in the UK might be interested-- they could say "some parts are interchangable with the real Dino" or something in their ads if they did. Might motivate them.

My metal guy and I just pulled templates off of a 206 that I am doing to remake these trim pieces. The 246 pieces are slightly longer so we have accounted for that, we are getting both profiles for the door "L" piece and the rain gutter edge trim piece. We will make them out of brass like the originals, the pieces will all be made a little long so that they can be fit to each car individually than chromed. I have to do them anyway but if there is enough interest I will have more made or at least I will have the jigs made so that if anyone needs them in the future it will be easy to make them to order.

I will take a full set also.
Any chance of getting them chromed before shipment?

I think the environmental protection laws in California make chroming here impossible

I will have more information this week as far as how much they will cost me etc. I am not in the parts bussiness and like I said I am doing this for one of my restorations so they might as well be available to everyone. Problem with chroming before shipment is that the pieces needs to be fit to the car indivualy, hence the reason they have the body number stamped on them from the factory. If you try and file them after they are chromed you will end up with bare brass that will be viable on one end or the other.

I see you live in Oceanside.
Do you know of a place that can do chroming?
Maybe my fears are unfounded. They are based on conversations I have had with people who had to have "hard chroming" done and the part had to be sent to Arizona to be done.

I have the driver side gutter piece and it is NOS. Just tried fitting it and the leading end is crimped so no need to cut or file there. On the short leg at the rear window, it is open and fits just right. Does not have to be filed.
The L shape one that goes around the door frame, I think we could do a measurement sampling and see if we are fairly even, then draw conclusions.

In my instance it would be a major pain to bring, fit, trim, resend for chrome, bring back...

    Let's talk.

Thank you for the great effort.

    Regards, Alberto

Are you sure they have the body number stamped on them? It is a very thin piece and I have not seen any number on the one I have. You may be right but I thought I should mention it just in case we are talking about different parts.

All these pieces on my 5000 series Euro GT are stainless steel not chromed brass.

You are right, I assume Ferrari understood the price differential and out went the brass...
My "L" 1104 is all brass.

    You are right:
I have chrome parts from L- Dino # 0646, chromed brass.
    My M-Dino # 1706 has stainless steel.

The close number on the door trim is funny :)
