I've received some requests for the plastic covers that cover the gears on the Dino jack. There are 2 sizes, the L series jack cover is smaller than the later jack covers.

I'm looking to buy or borrow one of each size to use as patterns for molds to reprodice the covers.

Using a part as a pattern does not harm or mark it in any way. I just mount it in modeling clay & pour 2-part silicone around it, then peel the silicone off & clean any clay residue off with plastic friendly solvent.

Once I have a mold I can guarantee a supply of these parts.

The jack caps are not terribly difficult or costly to find as they were shared with many Alfa Romeos. What there is a market for is the rubber boot that goes on the arm that enters the chassis as this part is not shared by any other car that I know of. If you look at the photo below it is the part on the bottom of the image that is diagonal.

I think that if you make these you will find a good market as many are missing or damaged.

I enjoyed making the cap,but as you can see it is not a good example of what the original would look like,I would certainly like to have a moulded one if and when they become available.

The other jack part there might be a need for is the handle cap. Mine is cracked and I haven't found a replacement. Should also point out it has a "B" on the top of the cap.

The handle cap is also an Alfa part. The 'B' stands for Battaini which is the company that makes the jacks. eBay will bring one up now and then and you should be able to buy a jack that has the top, handle, and plug on the end of the gear assembly (another common missing part) for about $100 and you are left with a jack.

The hard to get part is the pad I mentionned on the end of the extension. In fact if anyone has one that is not damaged I will gladly trade them a near perfect cover for the gear assembly for it.

I agree with Nuvolari the extension piece is the virtually impossible part to find or fabricate on your own.

+1, Rob & Paul are on top of this!
I've purchased jack caps from $35 to $75, so they can be found and have already been reproduced. That price point will give you an idea if your efforts have ROI.

Currently priced at $66.55 from Mike Dunn's ex-company:

I'll be happy to reproduce the jack handle cap, as well as the pad.

The affordable ($100 or so) Battaini jacks I've seen on eBay have 'reproduction' tops. Making a copy of a copy is a good way to loose fine detail, depending on how good the reproducer's process was. Some Dino indicator lenses that I was making until someone in Italy took one of my lenses, made a mold and started selling them at a price I couldn't match comes to mind. Fine details of the reproductions was blurred, but still my sales went to zero.

I'd really like to start with OEM parts as my current mold process captures the fine detail very well. My plastic reproductions are so faithful that I have to be very careful not to get the original mixed up with new parts.

BTW, my policy is to supply a new part to anyone who loans me one for a mold pattern. Also, I'm happy to pay shipping both ways.

Verell if you wish to produce a gear top then I can supply you with a really nice original one to mold off of. PM me and we can set things up.

Now if someone could supply the jack pad we could really get somthing made that could move numbers and help out the Dino crowd. Winter is coming any takers?

the current repros are not perfect...
the rubber material is too soft, quite a difference from the original ones
with the soft rubber they don`t remain firm on the jack...

a lot of people look for the seat ajustment (up and down) plastic knob for 206 GT and L-series (I think also early Daytonas have it..)
    Could you reproduce those?
    Regards Matthias

You can contact me by clicking on my name by this post & selecting [send eMAIL to Verell].
The address to ship it to is in my web site's ecatalog - web site link is in my profile.

I've got a shore A90 rubber that should be about the right hardness. Similar to the rubber on shopping cart wheels.

    Shouldn't be a problem.

I've gotten behind on molds, am trying to catch up. Most likely would be ready to start on these in late November.

You got an order now for three latch housings.
Was at least a secret to me.
You should add to your catalog: for Dino 206 GT and 246 L-series
    ;-)

I'm sure you are ultra busy doing real things but didn't hear back on my email offer to supply originals on what you might need to make molds from so I'll gently bump this.

Sent again yesterday, yet no response. If you did not receive it perhaps search by date?
Perhaps you're swamped ... completely understandable

Did ALL Dino jacks have this cap with the printing on it? I've seen jacks with plain (i.e., smooth) top cap, both for Dino's as well as Battaini jacks for Alfa's.
