Plenty of Dino photos exist, but it is often hard to find period photos (e.g. before 1980) that present the Dino in its most original form and prior to subsequent owners, restorers, and sellers accidental or intentional modifications. Period photos are a treasure trove for those restoring Dinos back to the way they left the factory or original dealer. Particularly difficult to find are period photos of the engine compartment and other mechanical parts/accessories.

I'll start by posting photos from approximately 1975 of Dino 246 GT #06618 that was delivered new from Garage Francorchamps. Note the Belgium market specific details such as rear red fog light required by Belgian road regulations.

That low angle makes her body look, almost - - like she's laying by the pool. As is universally said, and it's true: "beauty is in the eye of the beholder". Well, for my eyes, this is one of the most beautiful shots of a Dino, that I've ever seen. Ahh, but then, a Dino is incredibly beautiful, no matter where the camera finds her.

    Cheers,

    Hank

Hank I totally agree, my son and I were sitting here in utter amazement of Gary's picture. That car is absolutley, postively GORGEOUS. The hips on that car is outrageous.

The "L" registration suffix means the car was registered between the 1st August 1972 and the 31st July 1973. It's hard to tell from the photographs but the interior looks to be black. By a process of elimination I think it may be 06232.

When the Persuaders first came out on local TV, I couldn't identify the car right away. I was so fascinated. I now have the boxed DVD set; it is a joy to watch.

Let's keep the pictures coming. I sure do miss her and must admit it was one of the most lamented car sells of my life. Not for what she has become, but what she always was-the most beautiful car of all times, the sounds, the handling and the memories!

Here is a picture taken 1975 of my wifes' Oro Chiraro Metallizzato 1972 Dino GT taken near the high bank of Daytona- last race of the season. My daughters first trip in the Ferrari. Her first trip to Daytona. Used to tease her thinking at the time it was the "worst color" for the Dino.

Matthias as we were looking at old pictures and found this only picture we could recall of our ORO we discussed how great it would be to find her whereabouts today, but in our numerous moves old paperwork was discarded. My wife still honors this Dino with her plate MS 246 on her current Modena.

Thanks Dave as it meant a lot the other day after so many years of finding the Oro Dino's picture at Daytona that year with my daughter. Interior was fawn vinyl seats, air conditioning and electric lifts

How did you derive the 2 numbers listed above? I questionably remember a # 630 in the number sequence, but can not remember if the first number was a 2 , 3 or a 4 as memory fails. Do you think if I went to the Dino reg. with those number may help?Today I was on a quest as all of this sparked remembering a complete Dino tool kit that I had put away wondering if per chance numbers would somehow be attached to the brown vinyl cover, but our rather recent move from Co. was brutal as far as memories. My wife assures that it has to be somewhere in this house or garage. This Dino was painted Rossa Chairo in I believe 1976-77, the interior was changed to black carpets, the seats were changed to black vat dyed leather with black/red daytona inserts per factory. The repaint/revision was done by Dale Powers in St Pete. At the time he had completed the paint work he was storing the Daytona Coupe that had run in the first cross country Cannon Ball Run. Our car was sold in 84-85 with the purchase and import of my new Boxer to the UsA. On pickup I was told the Dino was going to Idaho. Most likely a dealer as never conversed with the buyer.
