Things are getting slightly complicated, for a change.

The person that knows where the original frame is at, has gone AWOL since last week.

Meanwhile, checked both L and E, and it appears that they are equal in the bottom frame, where the battery sits.
That one, I think I can write off as a constant in the equation. I think.

The E, has two threaded rods that are welded to the battery bottom frame, whereas the L has no rods. Nothing.
I am afraid that one slipped right by, so a re-weld will have to happen. Great...

Now, I am faced with the usual Dino quandary, the "unknown".

Could someone be so kind and post photos of the bottom frame, with rods, and a photo of the upper frame with the receiving holes (sleeves?) that will confirm or send me back to ground zero on the (in)correctness of the whole shebang, as I am proper lost on this one. Dimensions would be helpful as to the rods and their location.

Tomorrow, hopefully, Mr. AWOL will reappear, but then around here I once lost a guy, and it took a year to find him, fortunately alive.

Unfortunately, time is not an ally at this point, as I had a way of getting the various frames requested to the World soon, but now, it is not looking promising until the next opportunity.

Thank you for your patience and help :)

    Regards, Alberto

PS. This photo, is supposedly an original L battery bottom frame from a friends' car.
The ground, with the two bolts and nuts, is not.

Trying to avoid potential spanking, anyone interested, please pm.

I certainly don't want to make more frames than needed,
as they have to be made one by one in this modern world ...

    Thank you for your interest.

    Regards, Alberto

Is that the interior dimensions (i.e., max size battery top that the bracket would fit over)?

Yes Ron, interior dimensions taken at the corners, +/-, as hand made, but pretty darn close.

    Looks great, Alberto.
I made some too last year, although not for Dino, but for group 27 instead, along with a coolant overflow tank strap to replace obviously "custom-made" 1/2" flat-strap item (seen at lower right in the first pic with mine just above it) and some door hinges for Daytonas I'm working on...
    Timo
P.S. Stud rod sleeves (bushes ?) on your Dino bracket seem little different than ones I've seen on Daytona brackets... Gotta love "Italian" craftsmanship with its wonderful inconsistencies :)

Thank you for the compliments Timo,
I really like your "I can make it attitude"!

Necessity is the mother of invention. What we don't have, we will provide :)

Also, I have to thank the generous lender of an original, without said part, it would have been an impossibility.

Nothing is the same on these cars, is it not wonderfully mad?

    Regards, Alberto

Thanks for your compliments too Alberto.

I've always tried to maintain that in restoration there are no obstacles, just challenges and ways to figure out how to overcome them. Especially during early years of my career, I often didn't have enough funding available to subcontract various tasks with best professionals or specialists in their specific fields, so I had to learn to do many things on my own.

I've also faced jobs that even some aforementioned specialists I tried to contract have told me "it cannot be done that way", so I was "forced" do it myself and prove them wrong in the process :)

During my career I've also reproduced all sorts of things from stamped metal I.D. tags for various automotive components (similar to Parker Halls) or hand engraved dies to emboss insignias to interior leather (similar to "Cavallino Rampante" seen on modern Ferrari seats) to hundreds of one-off or obsolete production windshields and other glass for vintage and exotic cars, some times even to financially disappointing results.
Yet why do I keep trying ? Perhaps because I feel all our beloved vintage cars deserve the best I can provide.

    You're welcome :)
The folded sides look just right. Many originals are gone, they were a lightweight construction and rust away pretty fast. The battery acid didn't help!
I had tried to buy these from several of the usual sources since I needed another for my E-series, the closest one used angle iron on the sides but none were "restoration correct".
    Alberto got it right.

Nice work Alberto, for that added authenticity you could have left the weld splatter on the frames!!! :)

Thank you Tony, but they are oxy welds, so practically no splatter!

Andrew, as you know, the frame is exactly like yours.
You are the one that really deserves the kudos, as without a sample, it would have been
impossible to get the right shape, form the radius on the sheet metal and the exact dims. on to the bushings.

They are made individually, as the 'angle iron' can only be made in short lengths and the sides are all hand cut. The bushes were made by my lathe guy.

Overall, a complex project for such a simple part, yet really 'custom made'.

Once again, it really goes to show that in Dinoland, request for parts are large, real orders are tiny, and at the end of the road, those retirement dreams to Moneycarlo, are really an impossibility :)

    Regards, Alberto

Alberto, we let this slide at first, but now you've now started three threads on the subject in order to take and fill orders for these brackets. I've merged them all into this one and have closed the thread. If you want to sell brackets here, then please place an ad in the classified section above.
