Does anyone know where I can find a blanking plate for the radio. I want to remove the radio when I retrim the car. I can recover one that needs refurbishing.

I would just make one up. It is just a sheet steel rectangle with a couple of studs attached. Add foam and cover with mouse fur.

As racerboy9 says Simon it is a simple piece to make up. Here are the dimensions that someone posted a while back. Just radius the corners and put a thin layer of foam on before covering it.

Thanks All. Are the studs welded on to the plate?

You can either weld them or use a countersunk screw as the foam will help hide the partially raised head.

I was just looking for a spare. I want to mount a Heuer Rally Master (two clocks on a plate) on the blanking plate, but didn't want to drill holes in my original one.

If you are looking for a two clock Heuer plate I think I still have a couple. That is a great idea they would fit perfectly. Actually a triple would look great

Thanks, Dario. Actually I am looking for a Rally Master set, with the two clocks. I wish I kept mine from the 70s. They are hard to find now. I am thinking of getting the Heuer reissue; new ones are still available.

Yes, the three-clock set would be ideal, visually. There is one on eBay, but it is the Abercrombie model and is very expensive.

Yes, that looks like mine (but mine is only 5cm high). I probably have to make a slightly different one to accommodate the Rally Master plate.

I will order mouse hair from Superformance. Does the material stretch a bit?

My blanking plate disappeared years ago, in my basement, or you would be welcome to it, Andy! Fred

For posterity, here is the back of my blanking plate, which probably had never been removed from the dash. I was surprised the nuts are still quite shiny.

My measurements (with mouse fur on) differ from those noted above. My plate is 18.8 cm x 5.1 cm.

By the way the mouse fur on the dash covers the entire radio opening, with no aperture, just two holes for the mounting screws.
