The marelli coil on my L-series has started leaking while I had it stored.
It's a bit of a mess but I don't recall what the liquid inside was, suspect a PCB which would be bad.
Wondering if Adrian or someone with specific knowledge can advise how I should clean up.
    So much for restoring it...
    Thanks, Andrew

I have only seen the word "oil" used in reference to what is inside a coil.

I'm assuming that the oil contains PCB, as it was quite common at the time for transformer oil to contain PCB. Wear gloves and clean everything with a cloth, which you discard in an airtight bag afterwards. PCB is not instantly toxic but you want to get rid of any remains. Would recommend that you also remove the remaining oil by removing the screw inside the HV terminal, the put the coil upside down on top a small bottle for a day (preferably on the outside).

You can refill the coil after sealing the leak (might need a bit of soldering) with a good transformer oil, such as Shell Diala S. Don't get rid of the coil, they are very rare and quite expensive by now :)

    Good luck,
    Adrian
