Gents help is needed. I tried, with no luck, to get some more detailed information from SF regarding their Rear Valance Repair Panel and their rear bowl replacement panels. Have any one any experience with these replacement panels. What I need is a more detailed description of size and shape, i.e. a picture or a simple sketch would be great. I'am aware that the fit is rough and that further fitting and adjustments are needed during installation due to this being a hand build car. My body specialist can make the panels himself but the labour cost might make it a better deal to buy the SF parts. The delivery time on these panels are an unbelievable 8 to 12 weeks according to SF!

    Best regards Peter

I have been in contact with a company called Brandoli concerning headlamp covers. They're in Modena and describe themselves as having worked for Scaglietti. On their website they show making original panels for the Dino and doing restoration work on classic Ferraris. I would recommend having someone write an email to them in Italian. When I wrote them in English they never responded. I have no personal experience with them. Maybe someone can chime in. Their website is RICAMBI: Brandoli http://www.brandoli.it/img_fotogallery_ricambi.php?na=246GT&tf=4&nf=1 . I have been in contact with Francesca at [email protected]

    Good luck!

P.S. The photos I received from them were hard to see the detail so will have to continue with more emails in Italian!

Thanks for the link Freeman. Email correspondence with auto parts companies can be a general challenge and it becomes much more challenging when you add the languish barrier as well. There is a person in UK that produces body parts for Dino but his prices are excessive. I do not think SF sell many of these body parts and that might explain why they cannot show me a picture of them. I think the bottom line is that you need to get these parts produced locally or make them yourself. It is not black magic, just steel plates, the right tools and not least, some experience.

    Regards

    Peter

I have dealt with Brandoli and their product and service is ok at best. Yes there is a lot of knowledge there but the business has been taken over by the children of the founder and they seem to lack some of the principles and hard work that made the company great in the first place.

As with most replacement sheet metal parts on a Ferrari expect to spend a good amount of time fitting them so the real calculation comes in whether their 'rough cut' costs less than having someone make a part from scratch. The answer to that very much depends on the quality and cost of the local panel beater you may have at your disposal.

For cars like this, I was told most specialist body shops will prefer to make their own panels as correcting a panel someone else hand made to spec and not for that car, usually costs more.
Exceptions are stand-alone panels like the front radiator vent cover, the superformance one was ok.

Thanks Alberto. I have a meeting with the panel beater next week to discuss the status and to get his recommendations with respect to required parts.

as you say everything needs fettling to get it to fit but overall everything was ok albeit a bit slow. it was a very old fashioned company to deal with. Its a few years since I went there but I noticed packages being shipped to SF, so perhaps they where suppliers. I had a headlight pod/ bowl replacement and it fitted pretty well.
