Two Dino's arrived today for a complete makeover! 08510 is the LAST flares and chairs Dino made, originally Red and staying that way with black interior. 08514 is the third to last Dino made and was only 2 car in front of the chairs and flares car at the very end of the production run. Both super nice cars with everything in place including ALL the original smog equipment. Both cars with very low miles and the Silver Spyder still with it's original paint and factory installed headlight covers. Both are USA cars and no changes are anticipated from how they were delivered. I've already removed lids and fiberglass getting ready for engine removal this week. These are nicest cars I've had to start with as there is no visible damage or corrosion. It's off to the races!!

From the looks of the pictures, it is difficult to tell why they need to be restored.

Sarge looks serious. Tell him to smile next time! :)

The owner has the original build sheet and that's what it says. I've also never seen dealer installed headlight covers installed in this manner.

I really like the covers, but the installation on Dino, always looks aftermarket and not very thought out.

Much unlike the other cars that were "born" that way.

Dino 8514 was our old car we were the 3rd owner. It is a very complete car. When we purchased it there were only around 7,000 miles on the car. The car didn't even have the windshield wipers installed - they were in the trunk. We loved and cared for this car for many years. It was my track car for a number of years until I lost 2nd gear. I didn't have the guts to have it painted and sold it before doing so. It won many awards at Cavallino and the 2003 FCA National. Never had a dog sit in it but my cat loved to sleep in it!! :) Factory installed headlight covers? I doubt it. I think they were installed in California.

    Jon,

As much as I love what you do.....

Both of these cars look like awesome cars as they are.

    Nothing can replace originality.

    Are you redoing them completely?

It saddens me to see two historic cars lose their factory (or at least remains of it) finishes.

I love my 550 replica and yes it's a daily driver. I have clarified the headlight cover issue. They were NOT installed at the factory but were installed by the dealer when they received the car. I have never seen brackets where slits were actually cut through the metal, where most of the bracket doesn't show. A few weeks ago i was at a small car gathering near my home in Rancho Santa Fe, where I met an older "Porsche Guy" We started talking Ferrari's and he said he owned the 3rd to last Dino built!. I told him silver/black #8514 and he was shocked I knew the number until I told him it was coming to me in a short time. He bought it new and said he sold it with very low mileage. He's coming to pay a visit. I continued stripping the car down and I knew this would bring out the preservationist. This car has won in that class numerous times and the owner felt it was time to do an end to end. I saw a new marking today as I took apart the door panels. "FIAT" was stamped on it. The car will lovingly be taken apart and when done it will be as it came off the factory line. If anyone needs photos of originality I'll be glad to oblige as this car has never been molested. The headlight covers are a question mark at this time if they are going back on.

Matthias and Debbie know what they're talking about- I seriously doubt the covers were factory-original. Besides, weren't covered headlights illegal on US-market cars in 1974? If so, it's hard to imagine the factory installing them.

The covers for 8514 were installed by the 2nd owner when he lived in Denver. I just remembered that fun fact.

Odd timing. I just received a phone call from the owner of 08434. It just moved into my 'hood, has been owned by the same family since purchased new from World Wide Ferrari, and is a C&F gts, with AC. 40 years of continuous family ownership. Originally copper/gold color. I hope to see it in person soon.
