For US Spec models, it seems there were "NO" Factory covers installed.

For OTHER MARKETS, it seems like there were.

Can we get some pictures of BOTH FACTORY AND AFTERMARKET pictures?

I would like to start identifying both. I would also like to identify which were historical vs. modern.

Shawn, headlamp covers were always dealship/importer installed, never factory.....
Maranello Concessionaires in the UK sold them quite often......

Thank you Matthias, it would be nice to resolve this once and for all. Having said that in a photo of Peter Sellers taking delivery of a 246 at Maranello, the car has headlight covers IIRC.

This Dino was the prototype from Torino November 1967, the car wasn`t delivered to Peter Sellers.... Britt and him just posed with the Dino during a factory visit.......
(see also page 50-53 Dino Compendium)
The head lamp covers were added by Leonardo Fioravantis design team as part of the design line. He wasn`t happy, when Ferrari decided to drop them for the production cars....
Reason: Bad expierences with the 275 GTB - lots of customers complains and illegal in some markets.

I think this is good confirmation of the original designer's intent. I think the Dino looks more complete and pure with them. The best shaped covers I have seen are from Brandoli. They have the perfect contour and are shaped different left to right with the inner fender fillet flowing through. The flat contour ones I have seen look wrong with the fender contour and don't fulfill the intent.

Night driving is suicidal with them in place which is handy with one bolt fixing to remove!

Freeman, I obtained the covers on my former GT, 03964, from Brandoli, and they indeed have the correct curvature. They arrived extra large, and after hours of incremental trimming with a Dremel tool, they were just about perfect. As is the case with all of these installations, there are always very minute gaps at certain spots, owing to the hand-formed headlight coves. I do agree that the covers finish the fenderline, however, I believe that they look better with the earlier bumper blades, which are secured by a single post and are positioned closer to the body. The "outrigger" design of the later U.S. bumper blades doesn't lend itself as well to the installation of headlight covers, in my opinion. I think that the larger gap between the fenders and the bumper blades destroys the illusion of continuity of the front fender line up to the bumpers. Fred

Rarely have federal regulations improved the aesthetics.

The factory test cars had them on when being run.

I have always thought these were the best option....

But Brandoli does have a nicer curvature...

What does Brandoli charge for a set?

What a collection of bad ideas!

(My car actually had that shade of blue velour when I bought it in '84. Fixed.)

This is what Brandoli emailed me:

"The price is EURO 360.00 the pair , IVA22 % and transportation are excluded."

BTW, they don't accept PayPal, only bank wire transfers.

    Steve,

If you wrote your request in English you'll be waiting for a very long time or never.......

When I had a colleague write them in Italian, presto! Instant response!

I only emailed them 8 times in English over 3 months with no response at all using every email address from them I could find. I then emailed them 3 times in Italian to the same addresses with immediate response each time. You decide.
