Hello there; One curiosity: does anybody know the weight of a Dino´s engine? I´ve found some info stating 285 pounds and that´s quite light for a cast iron block. If it´s true, that would be definitely one of the keys for the good handling of the car... cheers.
I found the same number a while back when I needed to simulate the weight of the installed engine +gearbox when testing for chassis flex (it was ok). That number seemed light and it's not clear what that included (gearbox? All accessories? Fluids?) We unscientifically added 3 humans to te engine compartment...
That seems light to me. I've had cars with cast iron 4 cyl motors that weighed 400lbs ready to go but sans transmission.
it also seems light to me, even compared with modern cast alluminium blocks, that´s why I asked. I´ve also always wondered what was the lancia stratos key to be a fantastic handling car, despite the short wheelbase it has. Maybe here´s the answer for that too.
