Hi a common problem it seems but can anyone tell me why my alternator fuse box is getting hot and melting! I have a new wiring loom, recon alternator and I have installed a modern fuse carrier in the old alternator fuse box housing.

Usually a corroded connection or a loose connection (screw terminal not properly tightened as example)

I note you have recon alternator and new wiring etc. You must get this fixed as a matter of priority. It will do a lot of damage to the cable & other cables in the loom.

The Alternator should charge the battery between 13.8 and 14.3 volts, I recently replaced my alternator because it was overcharging. Check voltage regulator and the field current.

As others have said loose / bad connections

update I have found by chance that the yellow wire from the dinoplex is feeding power to the fuse rather than the other way! The dinoplex isn't working and the conventional coil setup clearly isn't wired correctly. So I have concentrated on doing a Bosch conversion for the ignition first then this may solve two problems in one, frank Your link doesn't seem to work?
