Not something that anyone would really talk about, but....

Seeing a couple of Dino's in the paint process, seeing a Dino painted before clear coats are added, it looks similar to a Matte finish.

    It looks really awesome.

Has anyone ever thought about this?

What happens when you polish a matte finish, does it become glossy?

Ferrari has a modern color, Grigio Opacco, that is matte and I was cautioned on the finish care

I'm wondering what kind of clear coat you put on it. Must be a matte finish similar to a flat poly coating you'd see on a floor.

I'd guess it's a softer finish than a gloss finish, and that's why they caution you about finish care.

Hmmm . . . Matte Paint Care Made Easy

Seems you can't use a regular wax on them as it will fill in the matte finish eventually, at least according to this.

Oh, as to the original question, Shawn. REALLY? You of the school of original intent would consider putting a matte finish paint on a Dino?

I don't think I would, in my darkest hour, have thought that would be a consideration for you.

    Personally, it's a non-starter for me.

After you acquire a certain number of Dinos in your stable, I'll bet you reach out to that ragged edge of 1970's paraphernalia.

Years ago, Danny Z bought a second targa top roof and finished it in the period art leading lines checkerboard. Talk about causing a stir, this is one polarizing conversation piece!

    Interesting very interesting.

At the time it seems I LIKED it!!

    Still do.

But it's a little different than doing a matte paint job that would cost $10K to repaint. Or more.

However, having said all that, they're cars, and if you have the money and the inclination, I'm sure a matte finish would look cool.

I wasn't considering doing it, I do think it looks cool and seeing several of OMGJON's threads showing painting (I have spent way too much time looking at those) I think it does look cool on the body.

I posted this thread, because I can easily see someone having done this at some time. I was curious to see what a fully put together Dino would look like with it...

We have been pretty low on silly, new topics here in the Dino Land area of F-Chat......
