Having recently had my dino returned from an overhaul I notice the undertray is mounted to the chassis by pop rivets all the way around into the chassis tubes...was this as it was done originally ??

I have owned my GT since 1974 and that is the way my fiberglass undertray is mounted.

Totally correct to use rivets on the undertray.

Let's get slightly anal, rivet dimensions please?

And, if making a new undertray from scratch, as of course the original was missing,
just mold it on flat sheet metal?

    Thank you.

    Regards, Alberto

I don't remember the exact size of the rivets but they can be matched by going off of the holes left in the chassis. As for the floor the earlier cars like your L series have a fiberglass floor which is totally flat with no detail of any kind to it. The later E series cars have sheet aluminum floors. Either one is pretty easy to make.

Are the alumimium floor flat or with a profile? The superformance one I bought has a profile / crease

I'll ask for others to chime in to greater detail however the aluminum floors I believe should have some ribs rolled into them. The earlier fiberglass floors are flat.

05082 and 05702 both have flat fiberglass that was installed between the rocker lip and the chassis secured with rivets and oversized washers

I took a look at my aluminum undertray - #07228 - but without having it on a lift. It is attached with pop-rivets, without washers. There is no sign of ribs. That's how I remember it from earlier periods of laying under the car. I believe the undertray to be original – at 51K, it’s too beat up not to be.
