I received this picture this week. The car is apparently for sale in Italy....
I have seen a lot of re-stamped cars, but this chassis no. made me laugh....
on top the car has bolt-on rims....
    watch out...

    What a convincing execution.

Why would some one do such a half a$$ed job?

If you are going to fake it, at least make it so some one doesn't notice the huge differential.

I received a few more information yesterday....
The owner is a very well respected Italian family, who own this Dino for more than 20 years with all legal papers...
The car was probably renumbered very early in life.
It's likely, that all other numbers are matching and chassis no. could be brought back by Ferrari Classiche to it's correct number to be able to receive Ferrari Classiche certification.
The car itself seem to be in very original condition.... quite interesting....

How could it be a fake? No body has ever replicated a 246 Dino ... what classis would you use? And it is not VW powered ... Confused

Hello, looks real to me. The factory did a lot of stuff to just get by then. Bolt on wheels came in late 70, 5 lugs. At least to the US market anyway.
