My first sports car was a Porsche 1965 SC that I bought used in 1970 for $3200. Lately I've been giving some thought to restoring one of those so I went looking. I came home with 2 new projects that I wasn't expecting. Instead of a Porsche 65 SC I came home with a 1958 Porsche Speedster! While looking around I noticed a yellow Dino in the corner and after taking a better look I realized it was exactly what I had been wanting for some time. In my mind and with my tastes the perfect Dino for me would be a 74GTS EURO no AC no Power windows and FLARES with Euro gauges and no USA add ons.
There it sat, owned by an out of the country owner who was just getting ready to sell it. Some calls were made and I made an offer and ended up driving it home. I drove it 200 miles home in 90 degree heat and the car never missed a beat or even approached getting hot. A great drive back and safely tucked in my garage. You never know what your journeys will bring. For me today a treasure I will keep and restore as there were only 15 Euro GTS Flares cars. This is 7574 originally Azzuro Metallizzato, then red and now yellow. I'm also excited about the Porsche which looks much worse than it actually condition. It's a rust free car originally aquamarine blue with red interior.

Congratulations on yet another wonderful Dino find!
The Dino Compendium shows 07574 was originally delivered to Belgium, hence the orange lenses. Does it have the steering wheel column raised metal area for the VIN like US cars?
    (a few from Belgium have)
    Thank you

Jon, When it comes to tracking down Dinos, you must have a factory-certified Dino divining rod! Your latest acquisition is gorgeous as is, but I'm sure you'll find a way to make it suit you even more. Congratulations, and good luck with the Speedster restoration. Fred

Lucky, maybe - but one must have the means with which to purchase...that's not luck, that's good old fashioned hard work!

Congrats and best of luck. I'm a lurker on your threads, but love the work you do!

The Dino is fairly nice and from 10 feet looks really good. The biggest problem was whomever painted the yellow did not prepare the surface correctly and there are numerous bubbles in the paint which is good for me as I won't feel bad about stripping it to bare metal!!

    Jon,

Yes, factory option. They were normally chrome. Really difficult to find originals. Around $25K -$40K unrestored if you can find a set. They came complete with different drums. No one has successfully reproduced them accurately. There is a company in Germany making them but the offsets are too positive along with the hole shapes and center hub a bit off. They charge about $15K for a set. I had considered them but I couldn't get past the issues. The chrome ones in the photo are factory originals. Photo courtesy of Fibersteel who reproduce the Glasspar hard tops under license.
