French auction company Artcurial will be offering the Pininfarina Dino Prototype, Chassis #0840, in February 2017 at their auction during Retromobile in Paris.
This must be the most famous Dino on the planet.

    Marcel,

I know the car was in the Le Mans Museum for a long time, but is Pininfarina the seller?

No. Sold ages ago by Pininfarina to Baron Bernard de Lassée, owner of the two automobile museums of Châtelleraut and Le Mans. The car now belongs to ACO Automobile Club de l'Ouest, the organisers of Le Mans.

I remember seeing this car in the ACO museum many years back. Incredibly cool piece of Dino history. Matthias time to sell the fleet and snap this one up :)

I always loved the photos I saw of this car, and was happy to finally see it at Retromobile.
I went back to it several times and have to say that for me it rather disappointed visually when I saw it in the flesh. It was quite tatty but I didn't mind that. It just didn't move me as much as I had expected.
Still a fabulous historical artefact of course...

I find it amazing that there is no reference to an estimate nor a guess.....

I am going to say $10m.

Sounds crazy, but we are talking about an even number Ferrari Chassis, a new concept called a Dino, and something that broke design ideas.

This is something going to a collection and never to be sold again. Maybe I am low?

A beautiful car AND an incredibly important piece of history. For the last many years it has been on public display, for anyone to go and see. Here's hoping that it will not now disappear into a private vault, never to see the light of day again. It would make a great addition to the Museo Enzo Ferrari.
