It has come to that time. People are getting fed up with me bumming their paint booths, and the lack of independence was killing me. I finally reached the conclusion that I needed a paint booth as things are getting busy, so what better solution than building our own? Hope you enjoy the photos and the scenery... Thank you Tony, coming along very nice, will have the proper lighting, filters and fans. We are using 3 fans (extractors) from old window A/C units, '70's) Discovered the motors do not have carbons, sprayed them while running with very fine mist with very flammable stuff, and nothing... This is the land where we do not throw away anything, you know, just in case... It is unfortunate our absurd government does not allow temporary importation of cars... Regardless, got plenty of my own to paint, plus an E type for a friend. Eventually, who knows, we just might get rid of the left fist types, but that'll be 2.5 more years Regards, Alberto

Thank you Andres, as you can see, we are working really fast... By the end of this week it should all be covered on the inside. The doors are made, ready to be fitted. Regards, Alberto Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
If memory serves me right, 30' x 16'. maybe slightly longer, as when not in paint mode it is a garage for the truck that we use for work. Regards, Alberto
Looking good Alberto. In the early images it looked like you were building a natural 'crossdraft' spray booth
Thank you, and you're right Rob, it would also have full time sprinklers too, 6 months out of the year Regards, Alberto
It will be a wonderful paint shop you will have when finished. I guess the sun will provide the heat for free for the baking process....- Peter
Things are moving along...Might just be ready for Christmas... Hope you like it Regards, Alberto Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thank you guys, the project is coming along real nice. Everybody has put their best effort into it, and it will be of great use. Here, everyone paints in the great outdoors... very 3rd world of course, then mosquitoes dive bomb the paint, not to mention dust and assorted crap that flies about and would mean redundant work, instead of just once, and it's over. I think that here, only 6 or 7 paint booths exist, so now I am one of the lucky ones. Of course this one is rustic and not a name brand, but it will do. Can even rent it out... Regards, and Merry Christmas to all in Dinoland and F-chat. Alberto
Finally, it is finished. Came out better than expected. We are free...and independent! I am amazed that the recycled A/C fans will shut the main gates without the door seal. There are a few last details, but it is pretty much done. We all are extremely pleased Next week, Jag XKE goes in for paint. Hope you like it. Had to sand down completely, and shall be the inaugural car that gets to be painted in the booth. The E type looks rather small... Regards, Alberto Image Unavailable, Please Login
What a beautiful paint booth, and what a location! Paint booths are usually located in some dreary industrial wasteland. Here you have lush Central American greenery just outside the door. Fantastic. Enjoy! Lars
Lars, you are so right! The location cannot be beat and the setting is absolutely great. All you hear is the sounds we make, otherwise, birds and butterflies. We shall enjoy it to the max Tony, 365 days of sun! Regards, Alberto
