All, I need a small bit of used original mousehair to cover my radio blank plate. If anyone has some, I'd appreciate it! I want it to match the rest of my dash. Freeman Image Unavailable, Please Login
Are yours already on a radio blank cover? Original? I'd be interested in seeing what they look like as I made the one in my car the size of the DIN radio. Freeman
I did a quick search today and didn't find them but I know I have it. Will look again tomorrow. It is one of those parts I see all the time in my parts collection until I need it and then can't find it.
Also, in the shot of your center dash area there is a switch in the upper right corner. Is that an antenna switch? If so, are you going to leave that there even though you don't have a radio?
Mark, That switch is for the antenna. Eventually, if I get enough old mousehair, I'll recover that panel. Freeman
Thanks Mark!! Eventually, if I get enough old mousehair, I'll redo that complete panel. Does anyone have any photos of a factory "no radio" panel. Freeman
If you're doing the whole dash with my old mousehair (il vecchi capelli del topo), I'll have to charge you for the beautiful ACRES of patina that I have curated for the last 40+ years! BTW, as per Dictionary.com: Patina - noun 1. a film or incrustation, usually green, produced by oxidation on the surface of old bronze and often esteemed as being of ornamental value. 2. a similar film or coloring appearing gradually on some other substance. 3. a surface calcification of implements, usually indicating great age. Origin of patina: 1740-1750 1740-50; < Italian: coating < Latin: pan. See paten For paten, Dictionary.com says: noun 1. a metal plate on which the bread is placed in the celebration of the Eucharist. I don't know if I'd want a piece of bread that had been sitting on a "film or incrustation, usually green, produced by oxidation on the surface of old bronze," but that's just me.
I'm back on the hunt for some used mouse hair to cover my radio delete plate. If anyone has any to spare, please let me know. I'm also looking for an original Dino km/h speedo to replace my mph version that was installed when my car came to the US. Thanks! Any leads appreciated!! Freeman
My 308 Instrument binnacle is covered in some...have long thought to replace it with (for my car) correct vinyl. I would imagine it's enough for your radio plate... Do you want a picture of the sun faded "patina"? I would call it "light grey" at this point!
Bubba, No need to redo your instrument panel so I could get a small piece of old patinaed mouse hair!! Let's see who chimes in with some extra collecting dust in their garage 😎 Freeman
Freeman, my car is now at home, but sadly, the mousehair I thought I had, turned out to be dino vinyl. Good luck with the search.
