Hi, Does anyone know of a UK restorer of car radio/cassette that has worked on Autovoxs please. It looks like it needs serious reconditioning and hence Autovox experience may mean access to spare parts. Thanks Chris
If you just want to retain the look of the original unit but give it updated functionality then you could use a specialist like Tadpole Radios in Colchester who can strip out the internals and convert the unit to FM reception with an iPod input. I had that done to the Radiomobile (Voxson) Stereo 8 in my GTS and it works really well.
My pleasure Chris. Here is the Radiomobile unit they converted for me. The FM reception is good. I ran the iPod lead into the glovebox so it is hidden and it is simply a case of turning the tuning dial all the way to the left to connect the iPod. I had a pair of Alpine speakers fitted in the doors and the sound quality is pretty good at moderate speeds. The end result still retains the original period look. Iain, the Radiomobile looks great, as does the interior. I can't see speakers in the doors? Do you know what the period speakers would have been with an Autovox - Alpines? I spoke to Tadpole; very helpful and obviously enthused about what they do. Any reason you didn't go with their Bluetooth option? Thanks again. Chris
Matthias is correct about the speakers. They are hidden behind the perforated door panels that were made to replicate the factory look. Bluetooth wasn't an option when they did my radio a few years ago Chris.
