That F40 looks better than new! Which year is it? Just the 1991 cars had an issue with the transmission?
I was Chief Class Judge. The owner can request the score sheet and get a run down on all the deductions.
Lots of rumors out there about this year better than that. I've worked on them since day one and on the US cars that is rubbish. A lot of sorting happened before they ever landed here.
I wanted a 91 because I remember being 15 and seeing the f40 for the first time in the flesh in 1991. I looked at 90 and 92s but in the end went with what I thought was the best one I cld find at the time, and it was the 91. Hard to believe I've owned it for 8 yrs already. Still don't believe it's mine.
Thank you. The funny part is this place a couple of years ago was the first I ever heard any of that. I made a few calls to my friends around the country (including a couple you know) and asked. They all considered it crazy. The car was delayed quite a while prior to being homologated for the US and I know Ferrari continued product update the entire time. Condition considered of course there is no US F40 I wouldn't be happy to have.
We lost points on the tool kit, intake manifold paint, and the driver seat belt got stuck half way. The nice thing is they will provide the scoring sheets so we can go back through it and fix any issues and come back to get judged. The FCA nationals are right around the corner so we don't have to wait till next years event. It's frustrating to loose any points especially when you look back at all the prep work. But at the end of the day the goal is make the cars the best they can be so it's a work in progress you just have to take on the chin.
It didn't have the wrinkle finish on it. So we have to spray it black wrinkle then follow up with a dull silver paint over it. The car got 94.5 points at Cavillino. Brian was very nice and wrote up a few suggestions on what we should correct on the car. So were fixing it up now and sending her to FCA nationals next month.
