from the old 328 registry thread: yes it's been a while BUT look what I finally got around to getting finished. www.328registry.com well better late than never
I can't believe you don't even have the original 328 registry cars in there that Tillman/Bobd did or even from the FChat threads. You don't even have my 328! That right there is worth a ban. just kidding.
@ Rock thanks it was about time we had one for our beautiful rides @ Rob LOL it's a free country so why haven't you registered yet ?
why should each person register 10 different registries? those others have 10x the 328's as yours does. why reinvent the wheel?
I think it makes sense that the 328 comes to the forefront, I've always said if ferrari only made 328's we would be out of business (they don't break).
no idea about reinventing anything or 'other specific 328 registry sites' as I based mine off the long 328registry thread on this very site which hasn't been maintained in years. I guess you missed my tongue n'cheek comment about it being a free country
ya that was an added bonus as we fell in love with them as kids for the classic look ...heck great looks and good on the wallet is not something one would normally associate with wome..er Ferrari's
yes and I'm free to critique your registry if I think it is poorly put together. I would have brought in all the previous registry data if OK to use (I think so as most aren't maintained anymore).
I appreciate your comments Rob and have thought of doing just what you mentioned but back in 2009 many people offered me old registry info and Tillman cautioned me on the potential risks of doing so based on his old list. If owners want to use the site then great & they can enter their own info. I started with just my car a few weeks back & the list is growing slowly but surely
Rob, John makes a good point here. There are still issues with copyright laws that limit his ability to simply "lift" information from another website. Does FerrariChat assert a copyright to materials posted on this board? How would you react if a competitor website to F-Chat simply copied information off this website and posted it as if it was its own? Copyright lawsuits have been started over less than that. If you are telling us all that you consider the 328 registry thread on here to be public information and that folks are free to copy and use it for any purpose, even for another website, then you are saying your entire website is public and open to anyone taking content and using it for any purpose. Is that really what you intend? I haven't been on the new registry yet to post my 328, but I'll get around to it eventually. If older registries are no longer being maintained, then it's good that someone is making the effort to start a new one. Perhaps he can get permission from one of the prior websites to use their listings to supplement what he has on the new site. But I would think he would need permission, not simply going out there and poaching information off other sites.
I understand those points, but I figure Tillman, BobD, and me would have let you use the data. That's what all the registry people do, they research all public available sources and get permission from the private ones. Give them credit and you are OK. Only issues are putting data out there a future owner may not like and you are at risk for that already. Current owner posts info about the SN and then 10 years from now there is a different owner that doesn't like that info, but how would you know?
met up with a few fellow 328 owners fchatters tonight that just found out about the new www.328registry.com site so thought I'd bump this thread.
reminder bump for any new 328 owners here: Ferrari 328 Registry - Ferrari 328 Car Registration also, for anyone having an issue submitting a picture please PM here and I'll make sure to add it manually.
