yesterday i was offered this Schedoni luggage "set", composed of just three bags. I just know about the 328 set, that has four bags and just one is like the three pictured here. They presented it as a "308 QV set", but in my opinion just one bag (the longer and slimmer) is part of the QV set: the other two are genuine Schedoni bags with the Ferrari prancing horse, but i never saw before those bags. Could you help me to learn what they are?

    Thank you very much

    ciao

I look forward to reading replies on this as whilst the long bag is definitely original the other two feel wrong - I cannot recall seeing the ugly clasp mechanism before

Nor I do. But what can they be? They are genuine manufactured by Schedoni (i bet), same leather, same smell, same mark, but what are they? how they can have the prancing horse if they aren't for Ferrari cars?

    Who knows.

They look like a "doctor's bag"

    Ciao Alberto,

I'm on a blackberry today so those pictures are quite small, but I am 95 per cent sure this is half (three bags whereas the original full set is six) a Ferrari 400i set, as pictured on the original Schedoni folder I have at home.

    Rgds,
    Bruno

The original 400i set is FOUR "doctor's'bags" and two rectangular cases, so with TWO doctor bags and ONE rectangular cases, this is exactly "half a set"
    Rgds once more...

Thank you very much Nerofer and greyboxer: they probably are the two "doctor's bag" of Ferrari 400i luggage set, that has a large trunk.

    Bump this thread...

Bought a brochure on E-Bay for two euros, which is in German, and seems to have been printed by Schedoni for the 25th anniversary of their cooperation with Ferrari.

What is interesting is that there is a picture in that brochure of the first luggage set for the 308, said to be "US market" and the luggage in that picture does not look at all like the set we all know:
it is made of three bags:
    -one big one, about the same shape as the two rectangular cases of the standard set, but as it is a single case it is rather larger and higher;
-two small ones, which are of the "doctor's bag" type.

The large one and the two small one are more or less akin to the bag in the first picture of this thread posted by Alberto.

The three showed do not fit the 308 QV trunck: i tested them on that car (already sold) which they had to belong. I think they are half a Ferrarai 400/412 set

Yes I know Alberto, that is what I thought also, remember? But the bags of this "first 308" set as in the brochure I spoke of are of similar design as the 400 set, if not of exactly the same size.

    Nerofer--

Any chance you could post a scan (or even a photo) of that 3-bag 3x8 luggage set from the brochure?

    Thanks!

Well, if you have a 1977 GTS, then to be "period correct" for once you would have to find this luggage set which should be quite rare, but also the same man's coat which would not be easy to find these days either...

That's make another variation on the set we have to consider; I have never seen one like this until now. And by the way I have seen another variation of the traditional format of the set on E-Bay Germany these days: identical to the standard one, but with different stitching...

This is the bag I was talking about, for sale right now on E-Bay Germany: note the double stitching from top to bottom right in the middle of the leather panel, under the lock strap, with two rivets (one each side) and the logo embossed in the leather which does not say "Schedoni"...thoughts?

That brochure is really interesting. From the looks of it, the "first draft" was a three bag set. Am I thinking about this correctly? And then by 1980 they ended up with the four bag set that we tend to think of as the "correct" 3x8 luggage. The four bag set looks like it would make much more efficient use of the space than that three bag grouping.

Can anyone with better German language skills add to this observation?

    Yep...
    1) It seems the three bags set was indeed a kind of first draft.
    2) Unfortunately the brochure doesn't say a lot about this...
The german text is rather general on how Schedoni became the partner of choice for Ferrari.
The German text is in fact a translation of the text that you can find on the Schedoni website explaining how the 308 set cam into being and started everything for Schedoni as a Ferrari luggage (that it was made by Schedoni to please a friend with a 308 and was seen by chance by someone from Ferrari, who said "that's exactly what we need"; we have alreday discussed this in some other threads before).
Unfortunately there are no details on how the set evolved along the years.

I had the 4 set luggage for my previous 308 QV which fitted tight but was complete.

I think the US set could be 3 piece only because the trunk was less deep than on EU models, due to the smog/catalyser stuff (diaper) below the trunk, taking up luggage space... .

Is that a possibility for the original set being only 3 ?

    Cheers,
    Frank

In the late 80s and early 90s, I saw catalogs which were selling 4 piece sets here in the US for 328s.
