After many years of searching for the right dry sump VR in the US, I finally purchased #19377. With significant help from Michael Call (ref LamborhiniChat forum) we are giving the car a proper restoration.

The car was a nice, 1 repaint driver level car before restoration. No previous damage and largely correct and original. Attached are a few photos from before the restoration and its current state. Suspension/brakes are nearly complete, engine is out for a major refresh, seats and door panels have been restored, and it will be off to the body shop fairly soon.

    Very nice!

Your car is pretty close from mine, so I assume the rear lower body part should be the same color as the body, including the part that is situated below the car (it is black on your pictures, I'm talking about the two sides, not the center part). I also believe early cars had the part almost hidden by the rear bumper body colored. It is the case on mine, but I am not sure at which point in production this was changed to black, so I can't be really sure for your car.

By the way, could you tell us the assembly number, that you should easily find on the oil radiator stay (the metal part used to secure the radiator to the chassis)? Mine is 151.

    Hi Ward,

congratulations on your purchase! Good to see that 19377 has ended up with a loving owner. You have even found the correct indicator lenses for the rear. The (incorrect) later ones had been on the car at least since 2001, probably because the right ones were unavailable back then.

    Regards, Robert

    Thank you!
This seems about right, 60 cars away from mine. Do you know the production month? If not, this is the only information you can officially get from Ferrari FOR FREE! You just need to send an email to the customer service with a proof of ownership and you'll have the answer right away. :)

Robbie308, it's time to update your register with a new Assembly Number!

Hello Franck, I will do as soon as I return from Italy (in about ten days).

Probably I won't have internet access there, so no FChat in the next ten days - Let's see if I can survive without value threads... well, I think so ;-)

    Regards, Robert

Work continues at the body shop. As the car has been getting stripped we found it wasn't originally Rosso Chiaro but actually Azzurro Met. We have been very pleasantly surprised with the condition of the fiberglass panels. The color change happened sometime in the late '70s / early '80s before it was imported to the US.

    Hi Ward,
    Great project!
I am going through similar with my 1981 308 Carb, which incidentally started life in Azzurro Met, and was changed to Rosso Chiaro ,very early in its life.
I have chosen to go back to the original colour inside and out..... what are your thoughts with yours?
    BR,
    Jez

Nice job Ward !! Always great to see so much time, effort and love put into a car several decades old.

Untill a few days ago my car looked rather the same as yours right now, but the body in the meantime has been resprayed in the original corlo (Rosso Chiaro). The painter warned me to be "ready" when I pick up the car again, it will be "unrecognisable beautiful" compared to the state the car was in when I brought it (which wasn't really that bad at all). Yours will be too, so we both can feel like a kid in the candy store when the cars are ready.

I thought about a dark-blue color for repaint, but with the upswing of the prices/value the last year in mind I decided to stay with the original color, which I also find very nice.

The original wheels will be restored too. I currently have the 16"Speedline Mistral on the car, but the picture Sebino/Paul has posted made me decide to put the original wheels back on. I think a lowered ride hight (adjustable on my car) in combination with the original wheels looks awsome. (Yes, I changed my mind !! :) )

Good luck with finishing your project !!

IMHO 14"x7.5 + slightly lowered ride is the best choice combining aesthetic and originality!

Return to Azzuro Met 106-A-32!! Just received these pictures from the shop this morning. I haven't been able to see the car in person yet but I think the color looks stunning!

For anyone interested, I am starting to document the restoration on my website. I'll work to update it more as I get time.

Looking good! The Azzuro Met color really comes to life once you get the car into natural light.
