So after contacting the Maranello Concessionaire Archivist in the Uk for details on my car he came back with the following: "I have this car as Blu Chiro with Beige hide and cloth. Originally a Lancaster Garages demonstrator and registered 01-1975." This does tie in with the traces of blue paint I have found around the car although it currently is Red with a black hide and cloth interior. Are there many other Owners on here with a car in Blue Chiaro? It seems to be a rare colour. How does it compare to Azzuro Met? does anyone have pictures of the two colours together? Cheers Jon
I would assume that in 1975 it's Bleu (or Blu) Chiaro Metallizato, 106 A 38. I am working on getting a match for my dino in Bleu Chiaro and found out that automotivetouchup.com will make me an aerosol can of 106 A 38, so you may want to call them and see if they'll make you both for comparison. I think some of the colors on that web site are "off." (I'm not disputing the accuracy of the color codes.). It could be just a function of how colors are displayed on a screen. For instance, the oro chiaro is way off, much too dark and too much orange in it. It looks more like nocciolo than oro chiaro.
I think the "oro chiaro" Dino is mislabeled. (Att is my oro chiaro 308.) The blues and other colors that I know seem pretty accurate to me. Image Unavailable, Please Login

Gotta love blue 3x8's. Who needs red when you've got blue? Admittedly, I'm biased! OK, serious question: difference between "blu chiaro met" and "blu medio met" - samples? Jon (328 blu sera 504C) PS "Horse" that's a beautiful 308QV. As much I I like the shape of the 328 for cleaning up the bumpers on North American 308's, the Euro 308 / 308QV's are just so "pure."
Maybe 1975 was the year it changed over? The 1974 Blu Chiaro is 106-A-38, the latter Blu Chiaro is 503. Same name, 106-A-38 is lighter (almost the same as the Azzuro 106-A-32) 503 is darker. FWIW, I have an aerosol of 503 if anyone wants it.

"Blu Chiaro" and "Blu Medio Met" cannot be confused: Blu Medio Met has a strong gray tint That makes it unmistakable if You have the luck to see a 328 in such color: it Is one of the rarest color on 328. Rgds
Not the same paint manufacturer: Ferrari went from Glidden Saalchi paints to Glasurit paints in the spring of 1981. "106-A-38" is a Glidden Saalchi référence; 503 is from Glasurit. Rgds
Ah, this does explain why when I google images of Blu Chiaro I get cars in the dark blue and not the light blue that is apparent in areas on my car. So the "original" Blu Chiaro is a light blue, given the lack of pictures I can find it seems to be a rare colour on a GT4, was it one of the standard colour range? Cheers Jon
The italian dénomination "Blu Chiaro" means, traduced in English, "light Blue"; This even That, as illustrated above, the 1980s "Blu Chiaro" looks in fact medium to dark. In the 1980s range of blues, "Azzuro" is a metallic sky Blue That cannot be confused with any other one as it Is really light. Blu Medio Met cannot be mistaken with another one either, as it Is a Blue with a strong gray tinge. Only "Blu Chiaro" and "Blu Sera" can be mistaken on pictures, but not on two cars side by side. As for the 1970s paints, the colors may have the same Name, but be slightly different in tint/hues, etc... Rgds .
The later Glasurit Azzurro is a darker blue than the previous Glidden Azzurro Met. Both are metallics, but the Glidden version is considerably lighter. My 82 is Glasurit Azzurro Fer 502/c. I repainted my car around 1990 with Glasurit FER 502. It's more a mid than a light blue and most people seem to call it 'Chiaro' when they see it. Posting the picture again here for reference. Image Unavailable, Please Login

This one claims to be 106-A-38 as does this http://www.jdclassics.co.uk/images/stock/22_10411.jpg It's very hard to tell some of these colours apart on a screen.
I agree... I don't have the famous "Mario" picture any more on computer, but my 22641, was the lighter blue. An old color, first offered on the Dino 246. There is a fibreglass 308GTB restoration thread now, that is reshooting the color.
