    Hi guys,

I see there are a few people that make replica keys for our cars out there..

Since it is a fairly simple design, and one key fits all, can someone make a replica of the seat pouch key for the 308/328 to sell online.

Wouldn't cost much but allows all F chatters to complete their key set.

I know they are available on eBay but they seem to be the wrong shape from the original.

    Thoughts?

I've got the key. I need the top latch, or whatever it's called.

Fantastic. I think the bottom one is the design I see over and over.

Question is...who can make one for us to buy?

I guess the two key questions are:

    - Which key is original?

    - What is the precise material used?

I think you don't need a key manufacturer to make this, a metal smith with a punch machine can do it? Material is what we need to know, zinc alloy?

That would be one way but would incur the cost of a punch/die tool.

Another way would be to CNC cut from sheet which would not need a tool and would likely be lower cost overall for a small run.

CNC will not have the same look. It will have sharper edges on both sides compared to one side from punched out from die.

Put me down for couple. I think we would sell quite a few more too. Would someone like Verell be able to make them perhaps?

The pouch key is a standard luggage key.

I purchased a suitable key from an on-line luggage hardware supplier for about $11 (had to throw away the fancy latch and hasp that just happened to be sold with the pouch key).

Thanks guys. My point was more that I know I can find a key that fits (just like most locksmith keys can be cut to fit a Ferrari lock) it was more to get an exact replica made that would satisfy those who want to compete their key collection.
As a guess I would say out of all the 308 and 328 owners out there 80% would not have the key for the pouch in their collection. And if a reasonable price was charged it would be a desirable purchase for most owners.

These keys come up on eBay frequently, and for cheap.

None at the moment, but checking back every week or so should get you one, if you are patient.

The one that comes up frequently on eBay is not an exact replica

Correct. So does anyone know of someone who could produce them?

The manufacturers name Amiet is stamped on the lock. Should be no problem to find.

Check with Barry (Green308GTSi). He usually has some on-hand to sell.

I have the punch press, someone make the tooling and I'll stamp them out in the hundreds

I got one from the link which piezo posted.

At the UK Ferrari Owners Club Concours yesterday the judges said they had never seen this key before and would not have made any points difference but that this kind of detail does help to create the best overall impression.

I won Platinum and Best in Class BTW :)

Has anyone REALLY checked the bottom of the pouches.

I found one in there. Probably been there since NOV 1980.

    Should still be there.
