Do you have the arrow at the hood stand/brace ?

  1. Yes, I have it , no need for more

  2. No, I don't have it but don't mind about.

  3. I want to have one (GTB/GTS)

  4. I want to have two (GT4)

Do you know the arrow at the hood strand/brace ? IMO it's one of the special parts to show the Originality of the 308. From about 100 cars 308 GTB/GTS/GT4 I've seen in flesh, only about 5 cars had have them.

    What about your 308 ?
Do you have the arrow ?
    Do you mind about ?
Do you want to have one (GTB/GTS) or two (GT4) ?

I'm planing to produce a small series of those small stickers and want know, how many of the FChatters would be DEFINTELY in ?
I've just copied a defintely original one (includig the big offset between the yellow arrow and the red outline) to produce two samples, see pictures attached

Cost would be about 5,- USD/EUR plus shipping.

No, for a GTB/GTS only "button" at the (one) front strut , back are (two) hydraulic.

I had an original Hood stay but just sold it to another F-chatter. It indeed had the Arrow sticker attached. Neat bit of trivia, Thanks!

Would definitely purchase two or three more of these stickers if you intend to make them!

My 1977 308GTB #20783 (January production) has this decal on the front hood support. I have no reason to believe that the decal is not original.

You will learn something new every day, Alberto ;)

BTW, Alberto, the first car ever, on wich I saw an original one (in flesh, not only on Photos) was the silver over red turbo GTB of Mr. P ....Idiota in Piacenza. The only interesting item on that particular car.

Attached a picture of another original one on a 1978 308 GT4 (verde medio metallizzato) front strut. It looks shorter because of the angle of view, but has exactly the same dimensions.

Interesting. It is so rare, it must be that Ferrari discontinued them very quickly. For most cars it would not be original.

On my car I just affixed a handmade sticker with a black arrow and the words " Push Here".

So please take a close look with a magnifying glass, if there are any adhesive residues at that place, the arrow should be. I bet there are.

    First original I've seen was at a 1976 308 GT4 , last I've seen was at a 1984 GTS QV ... 8 years ...

Fascinating. The arrow is even in Ferrari colours. The search begins for exactly which chassis number this stopped or whether US cars had / didn't have them :D

I'm curious so I checked on the only car I have here in this moment, my 12000 km one owner still first paint december 1983 -VIN 48913- 208 GTS turbo: there isn't anything, nor glue, nor some piece of an adhesive, no evidences that once there was something glued.

It's very strange for a car that still has everything original and still even has the paper adhesive on the jack tool bag: Are you sure that all had one? I bet on that car ther wasn't any adhesive.

    ciao

Are you sure, that the strut is the first one ?
I know, that many "knob-springs" have been broken so that the strut has to be changed.

But I don't really know for sure , that every car has got that decal. But if not, why there are cars from 1975 (absostone 308GT4) to 1984 that have one and others have not ???

I don't know, of course, but the strut paint looks to have the same age of the front bay black paint (very old): it looks to be the OEM one, but who knows. It would be the only adhesive missing on that car: everything is like new and OEM (all the switches, all the the leather and carpets, all the adhesives, the steering wheel, even the tyres are from 1983...), so it's very strange there isn't any evidence that there was anything attached there. I even took a lingh to inspect from very close the strut, but zero evidences found,

    A mistery! :D

The mechanical type struts did have the sticker on it when the cars were built and even had the sticker on it as a spare part. Many of the stickers edges would curl up and most people would just peel them off, and since the sticker was never sold separately or reproduced like they are today, many non-original owners never realized the sticker was missing. BTW, the strut for the 308gt4 is longer (open or closed) than the GTB/GTS equivalent.

But the stickers have to be the same as far as I've seen them on GT4 and on GTB/GTS.

Not sure if it matters but your hood strut looks upside down.

    upside down ???
No, only on the "wrong side" , at the right side, not at the left. Is it a RHD car ? IMO it should be at the drivers side.
